If technically more than half of 'strongbad' is a red herring, then 'strong' is out, leaving 'bad' or 'with bad help'. This is a bit of a stretch, but Paul Rogers of Bad Company has toured and released an album with Queen, as their lead singer...

there is more than one way to chop up a word-
For example, strongbad could be chopped up as "song"....?
The following artists have been ruled out for Clue 6:
!!! Andrew Bird Arie Atmosphere Brother Ali Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Buddy Guy & BB King Clap Your Hands, Say Yeah! Cloud Cult Coldplay Does It Offend You, Yeah? I will add them to the For Real... thread so we can see if they apply to Clues 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 or 10.
^^ also if the above fails to please you.... i noticed while reading this line from djjd... "less than half of one chopped up is what ye seek, it will jump out at ye" that maybe what were looking for in the chopped up word is only two letters i base this on djjd's use of the word ye instead of you maybe we're only looking for a two letter abbreviation like pj for pearl jam....?
RODGAB.com is Rodrigo y Gabriela's web site, where they are referred to as ROD and GAB
When Djjd was talking about the clue earlier in the week, he referred to it as clue seis. Rodrigo y Gabriela are from Mexico, and therefore Spanish speaking.
MAC could refer to Mexin ACoustic.....as they are Mexican and play only acoustic guitars.
I would agree except he said more than half was a red herring so you used too many letters for ROD GAB. I had two thoughts with the cropping angle: one, that it might rhyme or sound like town since the clue went "let me take you DOWN / to funkyTOWN/ with __________" Also he said winner would wear the CROWN. Unfortunately there is no 'W' in strongbad so this makes it tricky. Also the word help would have to go away to make this rhyme which made me think its letters might be used in the permutation as well? This make sense at all?

Was this the clue that referred to a star's buckle? Because they do have a well-known cover of Metallica's "Orion"...

How's this for a stretch....assuming MAC refers to the cosmetics company, their stereotypical users would be the mall crowd. These people also shop at the GAP. The Gap Band is a funk group. GB are two of the letters in stronGBad. Yeah, yeah?

Edit: Check that. I guess the Orion clue was 5
this is actually how I got there. Clicked on their website and was like RODGAB, those letters look familiar.......

I think this is a good point, especially because the full tweet reads:
Regarding Funky Town, ignore the song by that name, or you will be let down. Find the funk, you will wear the crown
I think that really emphasizes the rhyming aspect.
Maybe we should be trying to mix around the letters STRONGBADHELP , chop off some, see what we get, mix it around again ..... and what was the rest of it?
