^^^I still want to see what the hound says about this, but it might help to remember that he did say some correct answers were guessed for the wrong clues, and I believe Booker T. & The M.G.'s was guessed for clue 3.
It was clue #2 actually because I was still going for it as my guess. I don't know if I'm as convinced that is the right answer here because I still don't get what the MAC is in Memphis? Still, looks like I might need to rethink my answers for both 2 & this one.
I'm reverting back to my previous guess for the time being...though I don't consider it to be in the south, Tusla OK (where The Gap Band is from) has something called the Mayor's Action Council, which residents can use to take care of problems in their neighborhood. I also know mac is supposedly an abbreviation not an acronym. Still this is better than anything I could find for Memphis to connect it to MAC.
As dudezer47 pointed out, Stax Records -- for which Booker T. & The MGs were the house band -- is located at 926 E. McLemore Avenue (MAC-Lemore). One of those clues also pointed us to Ally McBEAL(e), further solidifying the Memphis connection.

*might be braindead by now*
....or at least by the time I finish reading through everything and get the site updated somehow. Honestly have no idea how I'm going to do it.
Anyway, I wanted to throw something out there...you've all been dancing around this concept but it seems like nobody is thinking of directly......I think this clue must be for a collaboration of some sort, quite possibly the superjam. That would warrant the more involved clue, and I have to think that's what he meant by it being hard to describe in clues. His clues usually lead us to the name of a band, so if it was a group of people playing together who aren't actually in a band together, or if it was a band performing with someone else who isn't in the band, or anything like that, it would be really difficult for him to refer to that with his usual styles of clues.
So, maybe we should start thinking of ways the permutations of STRONGBD and the MAC abbreviations and stuff could refer to multiple people, or a band and someone else, or something like that.

(p.s. did you miss me?! ;D)
I'm confused -- that's how we got Booker T w/ the Drive By Truckers. (BT and DBT both from stngbd) It is an artist playing with another band, as was hinted at by DJJD last night. Someone even got the "mac" hint. I thought that this was wrapped up?

No, I know, I didn't mean that to sound like a new revelation, I just wanted to restate it because it didn't seem like everyone was getting that and thinking in that direction yet.
Maybe I accidentally skipped a page or something.
Edit: Yeah, I did miss a page.
But even with that page added in to everything in my brain, I'll have to play devil's advocate here: I don't think I'm convinced this is right. But what do I know.
In addition to an album collaboration (which includes Neil Young), the Drive-By Truckers are playing at JazzFest with Booker T. It's being billed as Drive-By Truckers featuring Booker T. Jones.
"Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Booker T. Jones will release Potato Hole, his first solo album in 20 years, on April 21st. While the MGs won’t be on board for the disc, Booker T. will be joined by some prestigious guests, including Drive-By Truckers and fellow Rock Hall honoree Neil Young. The Truckers will serve as Booker’s backup band, while Young will contribute guitar to nine of the album’s 10 songs. The album is being hailed as a return to the raw funk of 1962 smash “Green Onions.” Potato Hole was produced by T. and Rob Schapf and recorded last fall in California and Georgia. The organist and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner will also hit the road in support of the LP, with a date at New Orleans’ Jazz Fest with the Drive-By Truckers already scheduled."
