When we were told we were in the ball park (or "closer" to rock n roll), could that have been referring to the guess about Ft. Worth being Funkytown? Dudezer47 brought this up earlier, but it was glossed over.

I doubt that it would be Kiss because of the magnitude of stuff needed for their stage show. It seems like they would need hours to set up. But GNR may be do-able. They are rumored to begin a tour this summer and Roo seems like a good place to start. I would be happy either way, but would probably prefer GNR.
I have to wonder if djjd is tying the funky town reference to someone who USED to be in the bad, or something that was in the band's past.
The phrase "it's really hard to solve because of the way this particular group is tweaked right now" really leads me to believe that we need to dig a litter deeper to confirm.
One of the frustrating things is that when somebody nails it- and solves it exactly by figuring out the clue in the way it was intended- we can't say: DING DING DING. So and so is the winner. I do high five people in the office, though- and say 'wow' that was quick!
In some cases- the correct answer has garnered little or no traction/response. When the lineup is announced you will know, though, who got it and when- so that's kind of fun-to-come. But yes, it's a bit frustrating and maddening at the moment. For us, also. I had dreams about clues last night.
Anyhoo- some of the 'bigger' clues are yet to come. Next week we really get into it.
more on six- certainly not a big money band. Not Eddie Money either. Closer to Ally McBeal if anything.

If this isn't a big money band why did he put so much effort into this clue.
because this particular ensemble (in it's unique form) is sorta difficult to explain with clues- you'll see. Plus, it's one of the things I'm excited about. Then again, I'm excited about the overall lineup this year in a big way. I've been to all b'roos except the first one. This one, to my tastes, rivals the Neil Young or Radiohead b'roos.

Guesses between when djjd said the clue wasn't solved and when he said it was solved:
Guns N' Roses Kiss The Killers Velvet Revolver Sebastian Bach Skid Row The Troggs Pantera Dr. Dog Rodrigo y Gabriela The Gap Band Dark Star Orchestra Bon Iver Drive By Truckers Rod Stewart Grand Funk Railroad Erykah Badu David Byrne Disco Biscuits Pete Tong Steve Mac Animal Collective
the only one on that list that even comes close to ally mcbeal is Erykah Badu. At least you know...gender-wise.

You will see soon if it's either of those or something else somebody guessed that's not those two.
to fact check your answer, you could figure out the funky town bit. That one has practically been handed on a platter. (Though there are so many tweets, maybe made it harder in the long run.)
And to be sure- it's really hard to solve because of the way this particular group is tweaked right now.

DJJD said that they're not a big money band so that should count out Guns N' Roses, Kiss, The Killers and Velvet Revolver.
Who has an oddly "tweaked" line up? Animal Collective, right? Their members rotate in and out?

I think you'd have to rule out David Byrne as well. As far as oddly tweaked, there's nothing going on with Drive-By Truckers, Rod y Gab or Bon Iver, so we can probably discount them as well.

And if you take out solo artists in addition to "big money bands", what does that leave you with... Skid Row (recorded in Nashville) The Troggs (British) The Gap Band (Oklahoma?) DSO (from Chicago) DBT (Athens, GA) Grand Funk Railroad (Michigan) Byrne-Eno (Europe?) Disco Biscuits (Philly) Animal Collective (Baltimore)
So maybe we should figure out which of these are from southern "funky" cities
"On August 23, 2008, Badu joined the rock band My Morning Jacket on stage at their show in Dallas, Texas to perform her song "Tyrone". Her surprise appearance was met with an enthusiastic reaction from the audience."
And I mentioned this yesterday but not very seriously. This could be what djjd means by we were close yesterday
And maybe leaving STD part out, means we're leaving the bad part out...
Groban was on Ally McBeal in Season 4 (ep 23) and 5 (ep 7) as a teenager who hires Ally and ends up taking her to his high school prom, he also gets help from Ally with the loss of his mother. (also sings "You're Still You" and "To Where You Are")
You'd think he'd fall into the big money/never at Roo categories, though...
HAHAHA. I guess that would depend on your definition of funky. But Louisville would be considered a fun Kentucky town, right? And with Evil Urges and some of their covers, MMJ could certainly be considered funky at times.
