Ok I'm gonna guess.....The dog associated with Tennessee could possibly be a "Black Dog".
There's nothing left to guess. The dog associated with Tennessee was the 'hound', which led us to djjd's new Twitter, djjdfarmHOUND. So now we're just waiting until tomorrow for the first clue pertaining to an actual band.
color key: clues in blue. assumptions/answers in red
"What a nice brunch y'all throw. By the way- First Clue for 09 was brought to y'all at the brunch. Anybody catch it?"
I dont think anyone has come to good answer for this.
"gots my shovel, gots some dirt gots some dishes that won't hurt djjd awakens"
I think we have decided this was just a announcement of the clues starting.
"but someone who is AC/DC isn't in Europe."
lots of guesses nothing has been decided on this.
"OK- I gotsa go back down in the Radio Roo studio. Keep them ears big and open. Ho ho ho...ho."
Big ears was likely a dog reference looking back.
"some of you are BARKING up the wrong tree. woof woof time to rust of my dadio"
Barking is another dog reference. hint towards clues starting on the radio.
"some of you are BARKING up the right tree. dusting off my radio, not my broom"
More hound reference.
"yes- wouldn't be any fun if it were easy perhaps this is a clue pointing you where to 'tree' the first good clue. farmhand has changed"
This was to change our thought process on where the clues were leading us and started everyone thinking the clues where about how to solve not what.
"What happens when your personality leaves? tune in and find out"
1st one we have a solid answer to. When your personality leaves it SPLITS.
"These are the easy ones! Not really. Solve the riddle about personality. Almost like a junior high school level joke."
This guided us to get the the groan worthy answer to the previous question. SPLIT PERSONALITY
"he one half .... has involved revolved devolved and evolved. No Devo is not playing Bonnaroo. The other half of split personality is the social networker."
This was the reference to a social networking site and that the split personality resided there.
". find out what Tennessee dog barks the loudest, remember he is the social networker."
Tennessee dog referred to a hound, a social networking hound.
"Plastic- you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO close but yet so far away. I mean, you are almost stepping in the dog poo.
This one was posted in response to PlasticPepper suggesting that the TN dog who barks the loudest could be an Inforoo poster who made the right guess.
"DJ JD Farmhand here... My new years resolution was to evolve...or devolve...or mutate...or something like that...so my question for you in light of the previous statement...Which Tennessee dog barks the loudest?"
This was pushing us to the hound reference again.
"DJ JD Farmhand here...are you still looking for the other half of the split personality? Just remember W.C. Fields always said it best...or at least said it often."
"half of djjd here. The other half has involved revolve evolved The other half is the social networker you little birds"
This one confirmed that djjd was the split personality and the you little birds and social networking is a refernce to twitter.
"EZ GUIDE TO CLUE SOLVING djjfarmhand has a SP (this refers to clue about what do you have when your personality leaves) this SP lives on a SNS where nobody follows him but he follows one of you That's it- the EZ GUIDE!"
This pretty much made it easy to narrow down that the social site was twitter (only place you follow people) and that we were looking for djjds split personality. He was following PlasticPepper on the DJJDfarmhound twitter
This clue was on djjd's personal twitter: "Nope- not here but you are on the right track. Find DJJDfarm****"
The asterix left us a blank to fill in. Combining it with the key words from the previous clues: rust, tree, dog, HOUND. Found us djjdfarmhound twitter.
"Djjdfarmhound is clue solvers best friend. Djjd Farmhand means well, but he's often obscured by cloudy judgement and (Soundslike) tazer"
What does a tazer sound like? our best guess is "BUZZ"
"Friday it's gonna get real"
Basically setting us up to expect real clues that lead to artist starting Friday. We assume this is friday Jan. 16th.
"WHICH KIND O DAWG IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE STATE OF TENNESSEE? Not german sheppard, right? if you have found this quote you know the answer"
Not so much a clue but a confirmation that djjdfarmhound was the split personality we were looking for.
"smart sounds like doesn't mean rhymes with"
Confirmed we were on the right track with BUZZ sounding like tazer.
"hound tired from chasing his own tail. Let's all let our brains relax- enjoy the music. ROOCLOO #1 Freitag."
Basically, advising us that we have reached the end of the line with these clues and that we should rest up until Friday. We assume Friday is January 16th.
Some of this information was pulled from PlasticPepper's site. Thanks Plastic!

I know man, I'm super late to this party! I started reading through stuff while I was in class this morning, but then my computer died and I felt bad anyway for not paying attention when it's only the second day of class...haha.
As I was reading through this stuff...as soon as djjd said we needed a phrase and not a quote, "my little chickadee" was the only thing that made sense...and then when he said the phrase led to an SNS that housed his SP...I knew right away what was up and I opened up my Twitter page and sure enough, there was my extra follower! I got SO EXCITED.
And this has all made me really happy - the fact that we got a resolution to ALL of our previous clues. Now when we start tomorrow, we can start fresh and not have to worry about anything else!
So it sounds like I've been elected to start the next thread? I'll absolutely do that...but I'm thinking I might not keep updating the first post with all the clues. If I just put a big ol' link to my site in the first post, do you guys think that will be enough to get new people up to speed? I just feel like having a big list in the thread will eventually get messy and confusing....especially when I'll already be updating the site anyway. Thoughts?
And while I'm on the subject...what do you guys think I should do with all the other clues on the site? The page is going to get really long, plus I'm worried it will just confuse people to have these clues up there when they're already solved. I'm thinking I'll probably make a separate page to list all these on and just link to it from the main page to keep things cleaner.
Ugh I am SO KICKING MYSELF for not being here earlier!

I make it a point to read every page in this thread. So, when I logged on today I read about 25 pages of posts. Clues were flying everywhere, I was googling all kinds of stuff, I'm searching Twitter for animals, and pondering WC Fields quotes . . . bu the time the whole thing is done I have like 17 tabs open . . . and of course, I get to the end and find out that the real game starts tomorrow.
I am both perturbed and amused . . . which I think makes for a good game.
FIrst post in the rumors thread but I have read ever page as it comes.
So all of the clues relate to finding where we can tree the fist clue AKA twitter. THis makes sense the only problem I have is with the AC/DC quote. THe AC/DC part makes sense because of the split personalties but he has said he will not be at ROO and his twitter account says England which is in Europe. This makes me think there is still something to be gained from this clue.
Wow I just relized I have gone completely insane. I am trying to get clues from this Bob Dylan stream and I noticed some kid was watching me(I a in a computr lab and the university of Arizona) and I thought that he might be DJJD and I was being followed. If I am going this bonkers after the pre clues what is gonna happen in the next few weeks. AHHHHHHHHH

1st, thanks for keeping up with this, and volunteering to keep up with the following clues. I think that a link to your site in the next thread would be fine, as well as a link to the twitter page for djjd. Also, I don't know how difficult it is to manage your site, but maybe putting a page for solved clues, and another for clues that we are still working on...just thoughts....what do you think?

If we don't get a new thread we are going to get comments like these all the time by people just starting and going through everything for the first time. RIght now its funny because we learned the answers only hours ago but after a week or two it will get really old and confusing.

I really wish I was around for all of the fun this morning. After and hour+ of reading and catching up on today's madness it looks like you guys had a lot of fun.
Pepper, your site is really awesome so I see no reason to keep the first post updated when the new thread is started. You've done a great job so far and I'm sure we can count on more of the same. Karma for that! As far as what to do with all of the clues that have gotten us this far I think a separate page for the actual band clues is the way to go.
I guess its time for me to get a Twitter account set up. I look forward to tomorrow's inevitable head spinning. Thanks for making this so much fun DJJD.

Yeah, new thread totally needed to keep this as un-confusing as possible! I'll start one later tonight so it's all ready to go for tomorrow. I've got class from 10-12 tomorrow and then I'm TAing from 12-2, so I probably won't be around until the afternoon. Which means I'm probably going to miss the first real clues! SAD. Oh well.
I can't believe I'm still the top poster! I knew I was when I signed off last night, but I think it was only like a 10 post lead, so I thought sure I was way down the list by now. Methinks I need to keep my mouth shut once in a while!

Just logged in to my twitter to follow mr. farmhound...
I had been sick all this morning so I spent the whole morning reading this thread. What's funny is, I have WC Fields quotes up all over my kitchen... I kept thinking, "DAMMIT DJJD, get out of my house!'
I'm so excited/ready for tomorrow. Not going to get anything done for SURE though. Sheesh.
SLEEP WELL, EAT A BIG BREAKFAST KIDS! WE HAVE CLUES TO SOLVE TOMORROW!
So what is a good name for the new thread since this one is called "2009 Bonnaroo Clues Thread". Is it possible to change the name of this thread, and start a brand new "2009 Bonnaroo Clues Thread"?
Post by plasticpepper on Jan 15, 2009 17:21:05 GMT -5
Good point bizco, we need a name for the new thread. I can always just name it "2009 Roo Clues - The Real Deal" or something, I guess.
I just set Twitter to text me djjdfarmhound's updates. I usually don't bother receiving tweets via text message, but I figured I definitely wanted to make an exception in this case! Thought I'd point this out since a lot of you are signing up for Twitter who didn't previously use it - just in case anyone wants to get texts and didn't know it was possible.
