i prefer a good quality aud over sbd any day...i think it gives you more of a feel for the atmosphere of the show. as long as you don't have your mics set up next to that screaming guy/girl you're good to go. with all the awesome tapers out there and the quality recordings they put out, i pretty much refuse to pay for live music unless it's a show i can't find a fan recording of.
this is the torrent i grabbed from tuesday night's show...the quality is fantastic IMO. haven't gotten to grabbing any of the other nights yet...but give this recording a try, i really don't think you'll be disappointed:

anyone feel like showing me where to find last nights audio? without torrents? I'm trying to hold off on getting torrents until I can't take it anymore
phellas...today I got the phish shirt I ordered from dry goods, and my complimentary sticker...and a ticket stub from march 7th hampton run? I'm confused. What does this mean?
Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about the livenation re-release of mansfield tickets. I didn't get any within an hours effort. These re-releases are really suspect...

ATTENTION PHISH FANS. I've been listening to a lot of the 2009 shows to prepare for 'Roo but would now like to get some SBDs of their older shows. So tell me, what are the CLASSIC Phish shows that I should download? I want to hear the best.

i am not going to claim to know anything about 'classic' phish since my first shows were in 2003, but i've been listening to a lot of shows from 95 and 97 and they are pretty great. I really can't say which ones are the must-have's though.

You can get a nice SBD of The Great Went off of the spreadsheet, it's got the best "soundcheck" of all time, including my favorite version of Makisupa, gooballs!

my phish obsession began with the lemonwheel. listened to that a few times, then went on to get things they did up to and after the lemonwheel. so almost all my phish shows are from 98 with the exception of the shows theyve done this year and a few from 95, 93, 92.
my favorite show to put on is 11-19-92, maze, fee, foam and im pretty smurfing happy after that
im severely lacking any of the "Phish destroys america" tour but now my CPU is crumbling under the weight of everything ive downloaded this year and i think adding any more music is going to freeze it totally.
um so last nights show was face meltingly amazing. the entire show was a perfect. trey was incredibly on. page was surely the chairman of the boards last night. fishman was bangin out those beats like nobodys business. and mike was dropping bombs! can't wait to see them again on the farm. and i honestly had way more fun at great woods than phenway. im not sure if its the vibe that place had last night or just the incredibly playing from the boys. but last nights show was amazing. i think these guys are getting better by the show. next show for me friday latenight roo!!!!!

"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
I prefer 93-94. Trey was a fuckin monster during this period and tears up nearly every solo he plays. My favorite "Divided Sky" is from 04/09/93 - Historic State Theater. You could also check out the 02/19-02/21 Roxy shows from 1993. Pure slay.

Go out and get the Island Tour from April, 98. 4/2, 4/3, 4/4, 4/5 are all near-perfect. Easily the best 4-show run they ever did.
That said - Summer/Fall 97 is damn near flawless, as is most of 1995. 1996 has its moments, whereas most of 98 and 99 seem uninspired (though there are gems out there - I think the Oswego shows from Summer 99 are as good as anything gets, along with certain choice Fall 99 shows such as Hampton, Hartford, Philly). Anything earlier than 1994 I'm less familiar with, but the band sounds very much different now than they did back then.
For more recent stuff, I'd stay away from most post-hiatus shows (anything 2003-2004), though the first reunion show (NYE 2002) is pretty solid.
Agreed on the Island tours and as for the rest of 98-99 they are hit or miss. Also agreed on avoiding '03-'04 not much greatness in there aside from maybe the NYE run in Miami. Another obvious NYE would be '95 Definately do not neglect 90-94 as someone else says Trey is a monster and the jams are large not ambient BS straight up shredding. Definately get Wetlands 9-13-90 a killer and 3-16-91 as well as 7-15-92 and like Candy says 11-19-92 will make you smile.
All eras of the band are worth looking into as Jugg says the sound is definately different get an early '88-90 show to see how unpolished and raw they sounded back then. If you can find 4-29-87 (my first show) check it out.
