^^^Oh I know that - I just wish Superfly would say something more. Even without knowing the whole story - I am on Bonnaroo's side anyway. Kanye already had made a place for himself with the press as an ego maniac

It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

honestly after seeing it on CNN, and now Yahoo, SF/roo really does need to say something, I think.
oh nm, it looks like they kinda did...
"his blog posting, West said he and the festival organizers (Bonnaroo is put on by Superfly Productions and AC Entertainment) went back and forth for a month on how his stage could fit at the festival. He said it was clear he was "dealing with ... idiots who didn't really have the capacity to really put on this show properly."
Weinstein on Wednesday relayed a statement on behalf of the festival that did not specifically address West's complaints but read: "Our world-class event production team strives to accommodate the needs of every performer."

I wonder if any of Pearl Jams peeps will come out to go against the attacks that Kanye is going against them. If anything I would be more scared of the Pearl Jam fans than the Bonnaroo folks all together (and I mean that in a good way Pearl Jam fans, dont let this primadonna insult your band).
I do hope for a bigger statement from Superfly because this is getting major coverage on Google News (close to 300 articles specifically on this subject).

I honestly think Superfly needs to respond with something stronger then just that - I want the whole damn story from them. I also want to know why Kanye failed to address the fact that he was not even onsite prior to his show but was instead in Atlanta doing a show and I want to know what time he actually made it to the site.
After a couple of days of this(it really was funny at first), I'm with Strum here on a few levels. Many of us seem to be discussing the same sentiments. But the one thing I seem to be seeing more of is the suggestion that Superfly or even Pearl Jam should offer some sort of explanation. This is rubbish. "Don't argue with fools."!!!! Kanye is a POP artist. POP in the least artistic and most superficial sense of the word. As a result of this fiasco, Kanye risks being outed to his "fan" base as a talentless fraud. Dependant more upon his "Lite Brite Show" than a microphone and a beat. His rant is an attempt to pass blame and gain media attention. He's a hoax, looking to protect his interests and gain at the expense of his fans.
I would not expect a response from Superfly and certainly not from Pearl Jam(though it would be hilarious). What have they done wrong(other than book Kanye)?
Again, it must be said. In seven years, there has never been a situation like this with Bonnaroo, it's promoters, or staff. There has also never been negativity centered around this event, as there is now. How many professional artists have put on legendary shows at this festival without incident?? This is no coincidence people.
^^^^Agree with the Pearl Jam part. They are not the promoters of the festival, but Superfly is, so you would think they would want to address it, especially considering this: "In seven years, there has never been a situation like this with Bonnaroo, it's promoters, or staff. It's no coincidence because Kanye West is involved. It's no coincidence because the principles of Roo, fairness, equality, honesty, etc. are conflicting to the principles of Mr. West. Like oil and water, man.
What is Superfly gonna say? "To all Bonnaroo fans. We never should have booked Kanye West. We should have listened to you and booked The Mars Volta. We have learned our lesson. Thank you."
Outside of that, ANY STATEMENT would be redundant, because Kanye is the only problem here. I wouldn't wait for any word from Superfly.
This was posted on the Kanye West news link on Jambase but found it interesting. Not sure if I believe the dude (avatar is Overall) but take it as you will.
"Here's the straight poop......
I actually had Kanye's tour manager, his "dressing room assistant," his personal trainer and his female back-up singer in my transpo van from a ritzy downtown Nashville hotel all the way to the Bonnaroo fest site from about 10:30 until 11:30 on Saturday night. And what I learned during that run makes Kanye a flat out liar.
Pearl Jam had nothing to do with his going on at 4:30 a.m. That little whiner just wanted to make sure he arrived onsite late enough to ensure that he had no other musical competition while he played.
During our drive, his tour manager let me know that, at best, his private jet plans would get him to the backstage area only 20 minutes before his then-planned stage time. And she said that he always needs "personal down time" before taking the stage.
If this spoiled little f#%k had skipped his Atlanta party, he could have gotten to the festival early enough to do whatever it is he does before going on stage. But he chose to conveniently arrive too late to hit his posted stage time and he chose hold off until all other music stopped.
George Bush may very well hate black people. But Kanye holds an equal level of distain for the truth.
F Kanye."
A few posts later the same poster post this:
"If Kanye really believes the promoters should come to his defense in the media, he's obviously hittin' the pipe too hard. AC, Superfly, and the production people on the main stage who stuck around 12 hours longer than they should have all bent over backwards to make sure his highness was catered to.
And to point fingers at Pearl Jam is ridiculous, too. At least they're an act that believe in giving a crowd their money's worth. Perhaps if Kanye spent a bit more time polishing his talent and a bit less time relying on smoke and mirrors to wow his crowd, he'd be able to walk out onto any stage and perform a FULL set (as contracted).
Something tells me that his silly e-rant has less to do with being upset and hurt than it does with his attempting to lay out a case for demanding his full pay. I have absolutely no direct knowledge about this particular issue, but I'd be shocked if the festival allowed this wuss to do what he did, cut his set short like he did, and then pay him in full."
I really want to quote this ^^^^ because this guy was our van driver to the Nashville airport Friday. Nice, genuine guy, really big WSP and Disco Biscuits fan. He told us that he was going to be Kanye's driver and he seemed pretty cool about it. So if this is his story, I totally believe it. I'm not surprised, either.
I was going to edit my image and put a picture of Pamela Anderson up there, but I'm at work. I did a google image search and boobies popped up everywhere!!

Come on - Kanye toured before Glow in the Dark and his albums sell really well without any visual aids. He's not dependant on the light show. The light show is what made him more Bonnaroo-friendly.

No doubt the lights are cool and the tour was a success. No doubt the records sell well and people like them. I just disagree.
None of this has any bearing on how you relate to/respect/or rock a crowd. The very point of this thread is that Kanye dissed the crowd. In his statement, he passed blame and still failed to recognize people who defend him. I didn't even go to the show! I am just angry for those who wanted to see something new at Roo. And saddened that something with so much potential turned into the joke it has become. All because of one man's ego. But "talentless fraud" is a bit harsh. Chris Rock was right on!

well the light show clearly ended up making him bonnaroo-unfriendly. and i don't know how far in advance kanye had his lite brite tour planned, but do you think superfly/ac knew about it before they approached him to do the festival back in (insert whatever month they start talking to people)? my guess is that if they did know then they would've scheduled him when it was dark out to begin with. those people know it doesn't get dark til close to 9pm when bonnaroo rolls around. but that's just speculation on my part. when do they start talking to people about performing for the next year's roo?

Ohhhhh - I getcha, you meant leaning on the lights to placate the crowd. Cool.
if kanye kept his original time slot on saturday evening then 'stronger' would have been performed in the dark in all its greatness. guess the atlanta show was more important to him. it was a birthday bash after all.
to kanye. your set starts at 8:30 at lollapalooza. at this point you can't really afford to be more than 10 minutes late for any crowd. 'stronger' will be in the pitch black dark, just how you want it. anyone can forgive your first three songs being at dusk.
remember that you are getting to share a stage with great acts like RATM, Radiohead, NIN, and Wilco and not the other way around. at this point i dont care how much you 'like yourself' just give the crowd and all the other artists the respect they deserve and you will get yours too (eventually).
learn from the bonnaroo disaster and stop pretending everyone is out to get you.
most people like watching people that are full of themselves crash and burn so don't be surprised when south park makes an episode about you, and stop writing shit in your blog because it makes you look like a little 14 year old on myspace.
