I'm with ya Jason. GA ticket prices are the same price as last year, with a little increase in fees. VP incresed on both fronts. And you're right, RV was 50 last year.
I'd say all in all though it's not too bad. Most people were expecting a significant increase due to the rumored (now confirmed) headliners like Police.
it is what it is. hell, inflation alone is (typically) 3% a year which accounts for more than 1/3 of the ticket price increase. add in the additional need to finance the purchasing of the farm land and its really not that much of a stretch of the imagination. plus if the VIP tickets sold out fast last year and the GA's didn't sell out till close to the festival start date, the price of the VIPs were bound to go up while the GAs stayed roughly the same. dont worry i wont bore you with the economics behind it ;D
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
Do you guys think the prices will ever level out or will they just charge a little more every year? Six years running the prices just climb. And first their were no RV passes, then they were $25, then $50, now $75. Will they be $100 next year?
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

The rv pass I can see (although don't aggree w/ the price hikes) in 2004 so many rv's were stuck in the mud and they needed a tractor to pull them out. Plus all the rv's were scattered around the site. So I guess the passess go towards having services on call at the site such as the world famous 'honeydippers"(even though u still have to pay a fee) and other matainence vehicles to service the rv's when needed.
I think the extra hospitatlity tent had something to do with it too.
... and the fact that Superfly's spies probably read Inforoo and know that there are a lot of people on here ready to shell out whatever it costs for VIP.
It does seem like a hefty hike, though. Maybe that means they are going to serve breakfast??
I think the price hike is not deserved. The headliners this year do not match last years. I think that the headliners are a big draw for a lot of the people shelling out money for VIP. It isn't unusual for scalped Radiohead tickets to go for over $300 apiece. So Shelling out $1000 for a pair of tickets to see an extra long Radiohead set plus a bunch of other music is pretty reasonable financially just from a music stand point. I am sure front row Police Tickets will be hot, but GA Police tickets aren't worth that much, and none of the other headliners are worth over $50. Unless the facilities are much improved (It does seem like they plan to have 2 full tents) it isn't worth the price increase.
At NASCAR races we call it the "suck truck" along with "Honneydipper"
Last year: VIP tickets 1,058.25 RV Pass 50.00 Shipping 11.50 Service fees 50.50
I'm happy to get my bonus check on March 1st... I will be able to go to about 5 Bonnaroos with it.... but instead I'm also getting a new roof on the house.
Honestly, none of us are in a position to judge the price hike until June 18th. That's when we'll see if it's worth it or not.
(On a side note, with Superfly purchasing the farm, I really dont think an extra $100 is that significant of a price hike. If $100 means THAT much to you, maybe you don't belong in VIP in the first place.)

So what VIP is only for throw money to the wind richers?
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

So there's one that strictly sells beer only?? Awesome! I think my inebriation rate will rise drastically this Bonnaroo.....better have a seperate beer fund.
I think the extra hospitatlity tent had something to do with it too.
i thought there were always two hospitality tents... the one with the food in vip, and a beer one by the main stage or something?
any vip vets that can chime in on this one? thanks ;D
True there have always been two. The main one within VIP and a little one behind the main stage. The one behind the main stage only had snacks and sold beverages (I think, but I really don't know because I never made it over there). Bonnaroo's 2007 VIP Ticket page says there will be two buffet tents, so I'm assuming that this year the little one will also serve meals. Just a guess.

You can try to throw a bad twist on what I said, but my main point is that if a roughly 9% price increase on what was already a good deal makes something like Bonnaroo that unappealing to you, maybe GA would suit you better. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's just a matter of paying for luxuries and what each person has a preference for.
I have done VIP for the last 2 years ok. What I was saying that there wasnt any huge increase in any kind of luxuries last year. The preparty was even smaller. So if they keep upping the price they need to up other aspects as well.
from www.wikipedia.org on "supply and demand" ---- The law of supply and demand states that the market price of a good is the intersection of consumer demand and producer supply. If the price for a good is at a low level where consumers demand more of the good than producers are prepared to supply, there will be a shortage of the good, and consumers will be willing to pay more for it. The producers will increase the price until it reaches the level where consumers would not buy any more if the price was increased. Conversely, if the price for a good is at a high level where the suppliers would like to produce more than the consumers will buy, the producers will be willing to lower the price. The price will fall until it reaches the level where consumers would be willing to pay more for the good. ---- i know i must sound like a smartass but i'm only trying to help explain why prices are going up (and will probably continue to go up for a while)
