So the "watchtower" is what exactly? Emergency overwatching of people having a good time??
Emergency overwatching of people who may be having too good of a time and may need medical assistance. It worried me at first, too, but I get it now. I can guarantee you it's so they can get to people faster when they need to
On another thought, perhaps they will have a really cool and long zipline attached to it that leads into Centeroo to help avoid really long waits and gate crashers. ;D

Alert set up pics lovers......I will be taking some more pictures today or tomorrow and will post them accordingly.
After this round of pictures, I will not be taking or posting anymore as the set up crew is done! Pretty much...I dont think they are ever REALLY done until the day of, but they are, for the most part, done.
I hope you guys enjoyed the pics....lets wait for one more round!
I need to correct what I said in my earlier post. The tower is going to be strung with lights and a few media will be allow to go up and take pictures. The main use is as "decoration" - to look cool at night. It will have a fence around it. I am pretty sure about this.
Instead of dirt and poison, we have rather chosen to fill our hives with honey and wax; thus furnishing mankind with the two noblest of things, which are sweetness and light.

Do we have a map yet???? I'm thinkin it's here somewhere, but please help, as I cannot find it! But I swear it's here because I know saw one somewhere here - with hair-do names - & I had never seen it before, therefore I think it was for this year.
And I can't search for it because "map" isn't a long enough word to be used in the search function!!!! Gah!!
Thanks!
edit: OK, nevermind, I found that map I was remembering, but I think it was actually one from an earlier year. But I will be happy to see a map when we find one.
Hey guys-on one of the other message boards there were rumors or questions about an increased police presence, including undercovers, and that they may be using the watch tower to "watch" us! (There everywhere there everywhere!!) What do you guys think about this conspiracy theory??? If there's another site or board I need to post this on please tell me!
Great pics!!! They get me even more excited about ROO than I already was!!!!!

I think the undercover thing came from the news story of Jam Cruise where some highly unintelligent individuals tried to carry some party favors through customs. Customs + Drug dogs = problems. No matter how many times you double rap and crotch it lol.

Nice pictures. Thank you. The old firetower is pretty cool eh?
You should put up Wal-Mart activity pics too, which by the way, I was by there today and there didn't seem to be hardly any fans loitering around...bad sign.

Hey everyone! I'm new to 'Roo Proboards, but I saw a link to this thread on MySpace. I'm a local to Manchester and have been working with Bonnaroo set-up since Memorial Day and have a few pics of my own:
"The Mound" as I like to call it is for VIP's so you special people will be able to see all that goes on in Centeroo without obstruction to your visibility (5-26-08):
The first tents set-up in the distance (5-26-08):
The entrance to Centeroo (5-26-08):
Artwork from past 'Roos on "The Wall" which emcompasses all of Centeroo (5-26-08):
Another pic of "The Wall" (5-26-08):
A picturesque view of an empty pasture that will be filled with vehicles come Thursday (5-26-08):
Dragon and Mr. T statues. After a closer view, it looks like people may ride in these things (5-26-08):
A major storm system moved through the Land of Bonnaroo on Sunday, June 1st. Security mans the gates to make sure uninvited guests aren't allowed in (6-1-08):
Bean's Creek Winery located at the corner of Ragsdale Road and Bushy Branch Road will be running specials for 'Roo guests this year (6-1-08):
Another view of the farm on a stormy day. Off to the right, you can barely make out the watchtower laying on the ground (6-1-08):
Construction of "That Tent" on the right side of Centeroo (6-1-08):
A view of the Bonnaroo kitchen located back-stage behind the "Big Mound." This is where I've been working (6-1-08):
Bonnaroo Kitchen's Spectrum dining area. Our welcomed staff members here for pre-festival set-up as well as all the volunteers during the show will eat here or in the Lafayette Tent dining area (6-1-08):
The outskirts of 'Roo was a muddy playground! (6-1-08):
A view taken from back-stage of a wet and soggy Centeroo (6-1-08):
Alot of Bonnaroo's staff members are camping out back-stage if they ain't staying at a local hotel (6-1-08):
A fenced in farm as security on the grounds starts to tighten the noose (6-1-08):
More tents (6-1-08):
Took this shot as I was leaving for the day. "That Tent" is straight ahead while Centeroo is off to the left (6-1-08):
Construction of "That Tent" shows a barn that was constructed located in the background. This barn is for FUSE to run their live telecast of the festival (6-1-08):
More construction of "That Tent" (6-1-08):
Another dark image of the farm (6-1-08):
Ragsdale Road will be the road most of you will be directed down coming off of Exit 111 out of Nashville or Hwy 55 from Tullahoma or McMinnville (6-1-08):
Members of Bonnaroo's staff will have to assemble at the tent in this picture located in front of the Home Depot in order to get their special staff wristbands (6-6-08):
Bonnaroo staff members that are local and not camping with a work crew on the grounds will have to be shuttled to 'Roo during the show and thereafter for security's sake (6-6-08):
The festival's main stage is going up, and due to restrictions and access to the grounds, this is the closest I could get to it (6-7-08):
And you can see the roof was assembled by the next morning. Actually, it was done before sundown the previous evening, but a daytime photo looks better (6-8-08):
That's all the pics I got, folks! Looks like the next time I'll be on Bonnaroo's grounds will be Friday night back-stage in the kitchen but I'll be out and about on the grounds with the Bonnaroonies during the day on Friday!
It is expected to rain everyday of the festival this year with the greater chances being on Saturday and Sunday, so prepare for wet weather! The humidity this year is higher than last year's so stay hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen, and I would recommend those beers be drunk after sundown or else you will get sick in the heat.
Also be sure to wear insect repellant. Due to a hotter and more humid start to our summer, the population of flying insects including mosquitos is much higher than the past couple of years.
Well, you guys stay cool and have a safe trip to 'Roo-land! WELCOME TO MANCHESTER!
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
do you know whats up eith the watch tower??? thanks for the pics...and have some karma for posting pics
I'm not really sure. I've been told that it will be for security of the grounds, but given how big the festival grounds are, I really don't see that being the case with just one watchtower.
The more likely explanation that I've heard is that this tower is a camera set-up point for the live telecast FUSE is running with a view over most of Centeroo and all that goes on around it.
