Gotta give it up for one of my all time favorites. This looks to be the best Trey album in some time. Here is to hoping the John Medeski track is "Burlap Sack and Pumps" from Alpine Valley 7/21/01. Best Version *EVER*
The majority if not all of this material is from the 2002 era when TAB initially headlined Bonnaroo, closing the event. I believe most of it is B-sides, left-overs, and forgot-abouts from the studio sessions of the disc "Trey Anastasio," released that year. It should also be noted that the Lucius Beebe EP mentioned below will have some tracks from Bonnaroo 2004, when Trey played with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra to close out that year.
THE HORSESHOE CURVE COMING 7/24; FREE LIVE EP WITH PRE-ORDER
JUNE 25.07
On July 24, composer, bandleader and guitarist Trey Anastasio will release his new album The Horseshoe Curve via his own Rubber Jungle Records on both CD as well as a limited pressing of Vinyl. Instrumental from start to finish, The Horseshoe Curve showcases Trey's Afro-Cuban-influenced compositions, replete with five-part horn arrangements, tight breaks, multiple percussionists and Trey's signature guitar work. The Horseshoe Curve is a journey, an inventive exploration of the big band funk that Trey has been steeped in for the larger part of the decade. (See below for Tracklist)
The Horseshoe Curve was recorded with producer Bryce Goggin at The Barn, as well as Trout Recording in Brooklyn, NY. Alongside Anastasio, the band includes sax players Dave Grippo, Peter Apfelbaum and Russell Remington; trumpeter Jen Hartswick, trombonist Andy Moroz, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, drummer Russ Lawton, percussionist Cyro Baptista and bassist Tony Markellis.
As a bonus, Rubber Jungle Records will also release the Lucius Beebe EP, a five-song live CD available free to customers who pre-order the album from Anastasio's website. The EP features live versions of three songs from The Horseshoe Curve and two songs from Seis De Mayo along with special guest appearances by Jon Fishman and John Medeski.
The album artwork features an illustration by Scott Lenhardt (who also did Seis De Mayo), a Vermont artist who recently spent time at the Barn as part of the Seven Below Arts Residency Program. A Portion of the proceeds from "The Horseshoe Curve" will benefit the Seven Below Arts Initiative, the arts education non-profit that Anastasio founded last year. This album made me happy. A couple of the songs in the middle (include the title track) are really formless, not even songs really, but overall its a huge step up and return to form when compared to Shine and Bar 17 (going instrumental addresses the worst flaws of those albums).

Yea trey kicks ass,I dont care what anybody says about him. I remiber seeing PHISH the first time I dosed at High FI Buys in Atlanta. I remiber eating some paper, smokeing some goods, them sneaking through the woods hearing the first song wilson staring. I was with 7 other friends and was the only one to get in, I danced my ass off and have to find a ride home cause my buds that didnt get in dipped out. Wasnt bad though cause all the Phihs follwers were in the parking lot and gave me some of the most positive vibes I have ever felt. Do you think Trey could be at The Echo Project with the DUO, I hope he make a suprise peformance, mabey with Mike too. Echoooooooooooooooooo

Any clue if we may see Trey for the NYC nokia run? That would make me go for sure, I am on the fence after the mediocre Phil show I saw in Baltimore last week.
