I've gotten behind but I've seen a lot of good shows in Tucson in the past month (before I got sick anyway).
Th' Legendary Shack*Shakers. These guys rock without mercy. The lead singer's antics alone make this a noteworthy show. Seriously, do not stand in front of him unless you like being showered with spit/snot/Chest har/pubes & confetti. He had a lot of fun with a tripping hippie in the fron row, at one point jumping on his shoulders and ripping a gel out of the stage lights.
Willie Nelson - Saw him at a Casino in southern arizona, and I have never felt outnumbered by people with walkers and canes at a show before. an odd setting, but willie put on a great show regardless. I can't wait to see him again at Roo.
Back to back nights of George Clinton and P-Funk and Rodrigo Y Gabriela at the Rialto. This is the two day run that ended with me having the flu for 20 days, but it was so worth it. George Clinton may have blown his voice on the pipe, but he still assembles a tight bad that can bring the funk for almost 4 hours. The only drag were the overzealous security that seemed to be quadrupled for that night. Rod Y Gab put on a stellar show as always, never failing to amaze and entertain. I will always catch these guys when the come through town. I don't think their act could ever get old.
Now that I'm on the mend, I've got a lot of great shows to look forward to, including Acid Mothers Temple, The wailers, Hillstomp and Les Claypool.

Im seeing Gypsy Kings tonight at Radio City. I've never seen them before and I'm seriously looking forward to it. GOnna be a good time ;D I'll be back later with a review ;D
I saw MMW on sat in CT. they are doing this thing where they play 3 dates all new material and then drop and album, and then repeat process 2 more times. Show was GREAT, first set started off kinda slow and was really experimental but then towards the end they got into this really dubbed out tropical song that blew me away. the 2nd set was simply amazing front to back, really out there and jazzy into strait dirty funk, into a diff styled tropical sounding jam back into some funk and some spaced out jazz and then into all that mixed together. god i love this band, its a shame they havent played NYC in so long and dont seem to plan to for a while.

Saw Clapton and Winwood last night My GOD what a show 2 of the greatest musicians ever
cool ... steve is suppose to headline a proposed fest here in denver .... i saw him with traffic, and clapton with cream for the first times, and lots inbetween .. time to catch them again ... here are a few ok pics from last nights show .... x****
Going to see Robin Trower this coming Sunday at the New Daisy. Should be a good show. I saw him a few years back at the MIM Beale Street Music Fest and he rocked! Good old school guitar playing.
I saw Medeski Martin and Wood last night in Ithaca, NY. The show was very very good. I wasn't sure what to expect since I knew they would be playing all new material. The show started out kinda slow and spacey but quickly picked up. The whole first set seemed to alternate between a spacey out there song and then an upbeat funky song. I was enjoying it but there were some moments where they lost me for a few minutes. The second set was straight up fire though. Some of the new music sounds like it came straight out of a haunted house, really good and interesting stuff. I came to realize during the show that I could probably watch any one of the guys play solo on their instrument all night. They are all so ridiculously good at what they do. Medeski is like some sort of mad scientist on his organ and piano. I was in the front of the balcony so I had a great birds eye view of him the whole night. At some points his hands were moving so fast and I couldn't believe he alone was making all the noises coming out of his Hammond B3. The encore was great too, they decided to let the audience request what song they would play. After a lot of yelling and screaming they played Bubblehouse for us. This was the perfect way to end the show for me because Bubblehouse is one of the first MMW songs I ever heard and helped get me into them. I definitely recommend that anyone who can get to one of these shows in the next year where they are working out the new material to definitely go.
We did not enjoy the show at all. The vibe was really odd. A bunch of very strange uber groupies that were all excited about the show, cool. Talking through the ENTIRE show about how it was better/different/not as good as the last one/ - not cool.
I wonder if those people talked through all 350+ other shows they bragged about seeing. (I don't really care if you've got the drummer's number in your cell phone, btw. You apparetnly like to talk about moe. more than actually listen to the music.) ??? Very very disturbing, all in all.
So was it us? Is a moe. show usually this way?
On the upside, I met some cool people that are going to All Good and told them about Inforoo.
How was the actual music? I'm kinda interested to see how they are playing lately. Trying to decide if I'm gonna catch a show next week. I usually have a great time at moe. shows, but I've encountered fans like that before. I was at a moe. show once and a bunch of people in moe.fia shirts thought they owned the place, but other than that I've only met cool people at moe. shows.

Hmmm. I didn't really dig the music. Maybe it was just not what I expected or wanted. I mean, it wasn't bad at all. I think I was just geared up for something else. It was jammy, but very heavy metal-ish, as opposed to hippy jammy (my preference). I like their vocals and harmony, and there was little of that at this show.
I hope that helps?? Or not. Just my op of the show.
The Robin Trower show was excellent. He still tears it up on the guitar. Of course, he played "Bridge of Sighs", but what I was really waiting for was "Too Rolling Stoned" which he played as the encore. Good show, but it ended relatively early (a little after 10). I guess the older crowd can't stay up too late... ;D Up next is Drive-By Truckers on 3/14 at the New Daisy, although I may check out New Monsoon & Devon Allman's Honeytribe on 3/8 at Newby's. Not sure yet though; Newby's kinda sucks for shows. I much prefer the New Daisy, Hi-Tone, or Young Avenue Deli. And of course, Mud Island (in good weather) is the best place to see shows.
2/28 - 3/1. 3 nights of Disco Biscuits in NJ. what can i say? being in my home state, all my usual show-going friends were at all 3 shows along with some others who we are slowly converting to fans thursday each set was better than the one before it (total of 3 sets) as they warmed up (having not played any shows since mid january), friday was my favorite night (they had an awesome sit-in with a female violin player during 3 songs) and saturday too was fantastic, culminating with a rock-star-esque guitar smashing at the end of the set.
everything went about as smoothly as i could've asked for, and looking forward to the run and now relaxing/recovering from it has taken a huge amount of pre-langerado-anxiety off my mind. for anyone interested who didn't get to see the broadcast, there are iClips video recordings circulating the internet as i type.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
i saw moe last night in cleveland and it was effin great.set1 akimbo>captain america>all roads lead to home*setember*!deep this time*>rec chemistry set 2 water>cathedral! sticks and stones* skrunk>yodelittle>brent black!>shoot first!>brent black encore raise a glass, vodoo child*!

Just got tickets to see The Breeders in Phx in May, and I couldn't be happier. They cancelled a show there in 2000 and haven't toured since. also getting tix to see asylum street Spankers, Hillstomp, Les Claypool, The Wailers and Acid Mothers Temple in the next few months, and may see The Melodians at a reggae fest as well. Spring is good for music in AZ.

2. Pink Spiders-Punk in pink. Really professional sound and performance for what appears to be a bunch of 12 year olds! They are about to drop their third album.

i'm leaving soon to see stephen malkmus/john vanderslice at the southgate house in kentucky tonight - i've never listened to either, i've never even heard of pavement - but i'm going because i love music and concerts - i care more about the show a band puts on rather than what they can fix in the studio - i've heard both of their names before, i think i heard malkmus on world cafe one day, but i'm going into this show not knowing anything, which i'd like to do more of, but thats kind of hard - didn't malkmus play roo in 06? anyone like malkmus or vanderslice or seen either recently?
i'm going to bobby weir on tuesday march 25 at the madison in covington kentucky, i'm a big dead head although i'm only 26, but i've been waiting so long and so bad to see bobby again, i've only seen him twice, both times were at roo
