Saw North Mississippi Allstars tonight. What an amazing set. I think it was just about 4 hours long. They were outstanding. I'll have a few pics tomorrow and I should have the live show to share in a few days.
So, after a bit of debate, I went to see OAR (Of A Revolution) last night. I've been kind of indifferent about this band. I thought they were alright, but wasn't running out to see them. They play a few of their songs on Sirius (ha, one just came on while I'm typing this), and I've heard a bit more here and there, but I don't really listen to them. But they were playing 25 minutes away, at the minor league hockey arena, and nobody ever plays here, so I really felt the need to support whoever was coming here to play.
I have to say, I had a great time. My whole oppinion of them has changed. They're not my new favorite band or anything, but they do put on a great live show. They played for about an hour and forty minutes. I only knew a few songs, but I was dancing the whole show. It's been a while since I've been to a show like that at an arena, where the whole crowd was up and grooving like that. It almost reminded me of being at a Panic or Phish show. Almost.
The venue was nice. I would definately go to another show there. So far my only other options there have been way too overpriced Motley Crue and Guns 'N' Roses shows, or country. There really wasn't a bad seat in the house. I think the place holds about 8000. There were maybe about 5000 there last night.
Sister Hazel opened. They were okay. All I really knew was the hit they had when I was in high school, 13 years ago, which they played, of course.
I have tix for Robin Trower on 3/2, Drive-By Truckers on 3/14, & Galactic on 4/19; all at the New Daisy. Should be some good shows. Also planning on hitting the Dynamites on 2/23 & Pelican on 3/4; both at the Hi-Tone.

STS9 saturday at the Pageant was absolutely AMAZING!!!! Last show of the tour, and they really threw down. I couldnt stop dancing the whole time. I'm pretty sure they blew the roof off of the place that night. I will NEVER miss STS9 if they around me.

Telepath didn't play for as long as I had hoped... They were bringing it tho. Then Lotus played for who knows how long... Show went a total from 9-12:45. Solid night of dancing... i'm beat.
Yonder Mountain String Band at Revolution in Ft Lauderdale. These boys are just plain fun. A lot of fun!
No opening band. Yonder played for a good three hours. The show was inside, which is a good thing because it did rain. But,I wish I had more room for dancing. I can't wait for their set at Roo! ;D
i saw keller and the WMDs at Zona Rosa a few weeks ago. First set started off slow but towards the end and thru the entire second set they were sick. Keith even sang Ophelia and sometimes a River!!!!!!!! My first Keller show since Hornings 2004 and it was kickin'....
ChefChick: Love the OAR pics. These guys get shit on all over sites and message boards. I think they're cool. Good musicians and solid lyrics. Glad you've gotten into them. check out the double live official album that came out. Also archive.org/audio has a bunch of free legit shows. Enjoy!!!!

If any of you guys have any questions about which O.A.R. shows to get off of the archive, just hit me up. I love these guys and have downloaded over 40 of their shows. Some are unbelievable, and some are ok. I am so glad they are going to be at bonnaroo. Now they just need to get added to Waka.

OK. Bear with me. Last night I saw Big Brother and the Holding Company. They've got a couple of the original members on guitar and bass and a drummer who has been with them a while. Then they got some 20-something kid (Chris Collins) playing rhythm guitar mostly but just tearing it up when he gets to solo. But most amazing was this singer, Cathy Richardson. I love me some Janis and this young woman was channeling her amazingly -- the way she moved, the way she screamed and moaned and pulled stuff up from deep in her soul. It was loads of fun. I want to see them again and drag everyone I know along.
