For those who don't know of Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, they are a R&B/soul/funk group out of Austin, TX who has a sound reminiscent of James Brown. They have two albums, Tell 'Em What Your Name Is and the recently released Scandalous.
I saw them open up for Robert Randolph and the Family Band a few summers ago, and the place had basically turned into one big dance party by the end of their set. They are easily the band I'm most excited to see again at Bonnaroo and their addition made my day.
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
they are great. They are playing here in Arcata on Monday but just across town playing is Animal Collective, Im gonna try to check out both.
This band has been one of my favorites for the past 2 years or so, and there new album is great. My favorite song is "Im Broke" off of their first album. They are gonna be such a great live show I know it! They were honeslty on my list of bands that would guarantee me going and to see them on the lineup after finding out just earlier while out to dinner that they were playing here the night I probably wouldnt be able to go was just the perfect sign for me.
I just saw them a few weeks ago and it was FABULOUS. So much fun, so much energy. I was really bummed when they weren't on the initial lineup and am super excited about the add!

Man, I hope not. I would hope an afternoon set set on Sunday.
I woudn't be anti a Thursday set. Talk about a great way to start the weekend!
I guess I feel that Thursday is my day to kinda chill and not rush around. I personally don't want any of my "must see" acts to be on Thursday so I can take it easy, walk around Centeroo, and find new music.
