He's pretty unique compared to the rest of the line up so I don't know if he'd fit into a tent theme too well. I'm hoping he'll be a tent pre-closer on Thursday.
Thanks for the info man! Digging the first song on here. Can't wait to hear more
My pleasure. After all the great new bands I've been exposed to based on other people's recommendations it was the least I could do for a band I'm thrilled to see again.

Ditto for me. Thanks for turning me on to them. I'll get to see them for sure at LN.

So I told everyone that I would check back in after seeing them in Arcata on the 11th. They played on the same night as Animal Collective so right after the show... I literally sprinted from one venue (AC) to the other (about .5 miles). They started their set about 15 minutes before I got there so I marched on in got to the front row and was dancing up a storm with an Eye of the Hawk in hand (9% brew from Mendocino...delicious) and they just tore it up.
I know ill probably piss alot of people off with this one, but they blew Animal Collective out of the water with their energy and performance. I got tons of high 5's and points from the band, the bass player and the guitar player (not Black Joe Lewis) jumped into the crowd and were dancing and battling eachother while playing guitar right in the crowd. Of of the horn playesr did the same later on. Such a great show! After I asked them if they wanted to indulge in some of Humboldt's finest, I chilled with pretty much all of them (minus the drum player) got to see the van theyd been traveling across the entire country (pretty small for 9 people on tour), drank a couple brews.
I asked either Bill (the guitar player) or Jason (horn) if they knew when they were playing and they didnt know yet. I also asked them if their was one thing they could have at their Bonnaroo show what it would be and they said that only once in their show had they seen a moshpit and they would love to see another.

While I love a good mosh pit as much as the next guy, I just don't see it happening for this band.

Agreed. Really impressed with the Coachella performance. I texted my friend in Jersey who is attending Roo with me that he should check them out, and he surprisingly told me he already knows about them, loves them, had no idea they got added to Roo, and subsequently marked out. Awesome. Barring conflicts this is a must see for me.
Just on this wikipedia description alone, it immediately caught my attention "Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears is a blues band influenced by Howlin' Wolf and James Brown".
After hearing a bunch of songs, I'm glad they backed it up ;D

These guys were great at Coachella. The sound was amazing, they were very high energy and I'd check them out anywhere they were playing. Do yourself a favor and get to this show.

Anyone else notice that they have Black Joe Lewis (no Honeybears) listed on the full lineup? I'm not sure if it was a space issue or an error, but I thought it was weird.

So after looking at the lineup, I realized I had nothing I really wanted to see Saturday until 3ish. So I went searching for a new band to keep me occupied, and stumbled upon these guys. And WOW!!!! I loved every song on "Tell 'em What Your Name Is" and just downloaded Scandalous. Really accurate description whoever said it's James Brown meets Howlin' Wolf.
This band has the potential to be like the Trombone Shorty show from last year. Super funky noon show to start off the day right. I cannot wait to see them live!
