Bonnaroo is just not meant to be for me this year.

I've known for a while now that Bonnaroo wasn't going to happen for me this year. And the sadness has been building. It started with finding out that my dog needs a hip replacement surgery, but I figured that I could work around the money problem. Then the line-up came out and didn't blow my mind like it has in year's past. There's also the fact that I have to take a summer class since I got into the nursing program.

Even last week I was holding on to this shred of hope that we might still go. There are still tickets available... and my work schedule worked out to where I would only need to get two shifts covered to go. There's even someone in my town selling their tickets on Craig's List.

Then my fiance had to go to the hospital. He was in atrial fibrillation which means that his heart wasn't beating right. Scary stuff. So Bonnaroo is definitely out this year and I finally have to accept that. It would be a bad place to have something go wrong for him again. I'm even afraid to go out hiking with him for fear that something might happen.

The world is just not going to give me my Roo fix this year. I finally have to accept that, and yet I can't stop visiting this board. I tell myself that there will still be my favorite local fest, Toco, and I'm not holding back on local concerts at all. Any band that's coming to my town and I want to see, I'm buying tickets for. But it's just not the same. I need to find some other way to get that happy hippie vibe this summer. Any suggestions?

I'd tell you to keep busy to keep your mind off things, but that doesn't seem to be the trouble.

Maybe plant some flowers. That's really made me feel good and I now have annuals to nurse all summer.

I'm really sad to hear about your doggie. Karma for you both!

Happy hippie vibes, eh? You could:

-Tie Dye clothes
-Camp in your backyard or a friend's backyard so in case something goes wrong with the fiance (hopefully not) you're not far from society
-Have bongo drums and guitar jam sessions around a campfire
-All of the Above in one fantastic weekend.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have a rather thriving garden this year. (I used to be able to kill mint) I have two containers of mixed flowers and 10 different herbs in containers. Most of my containers are recycled empty cat litter buckets with holes drilled in the bottom and spray painted. It does feel good to help things grow.

I don't think that it's totally hit me yet, with my fiance's heart... like sometimes I forget about it. It's like I thought everything would go back to normal after he came home from the hospital.

I have always wanted to have a tye die party. Maybe that's an idea right there... And I just found out about Madahoochi playing another free street show downtown later this summer. That will be a fun time.
