What the heck did I do to my foot?

I was minding my own business in my dr. marten mary janes, picking up things for Bonnaroo at my discount grocer.

Then my heel started to hurt. I didn't think much of it at first. I cut my errand a little short, and expected the pain to wear off when I removed my shoes.

But here it is, 11pm, and after ice, advil and a nap it still hurts like a mofo to put any pressure on that heel. I'm sure I'm straining the rest of my foot in order to not put pressure on my heel. I have no idea how I hurt it, and didn't step on a rock or anything. Even hurts in my crocs.

It can be sensitive to touch it, and the pain seems to come from the inside of my heel, my boyfriend had no problem pinpointing that ><.

Perfect timing. If this doesn't disappear in a day or two I'm going to be worried. Stuff like this always happens to me.

So what do I do, keep icing it? elevation? advil or ibuprofen? cut it off?

Sounds like a stone bruise. The only thing you can really do is get some cushions for your shoes and let time heal. Healing Karma coming your way!

You probably tore a small ligament in your foot. This has happened to me several times in my life..

If you want the truth, if its a torn ligament, it will not be perfectly ok by roo. It takes 2 weeks to really get semi normal.

What I would suggest is keeping off of your foot as MUCH AS POSSIBLE over the weekend, do not put weight on it at all even if it feels perfectly ok. Do NOT wear sandals! they allow your feet much more movement!

Let it heal as much as possible before roo, and watch how much you walk at roo. One thing you might consider, although it will be hot, is a pair of hiking boots that will keep your feet as still as possible while walking at roo. You'll also want to tape your foot to keep it from moving.. There are a lot of websites about how to do this, and if you like I can show you how to do it if you find me at Camp Inforoo. I used to do this for my highschool football team and havent let the knowledge slack, I'm pretty darn good at it. Bring ankle tape If you tape your foot properly and wear shoes/boots that do not allow the muscles to move as much, it will be a lot easier

2 questions:

1) Where exactly does it hurt, and if you can.. try to define the pain.. shooting pain? sharp pain? does it pulse at all?

2) if your take your palm and press it upward against just the bottom of your heel, what happens?

It may be more serious than a torn ligament

I hope it's not a torn ligament. But maybe an excuse to buy a pair of merrells. If it's not feeling better by this weekend I'll have to look for a pair.

the pain is mostly in my heel, and even if i don't have torn ligaments now, I'm afraid I'm going to stress out my foot by trying to not put pressure on my heel. In the arch and whatnot.

The sandals I do usually wear are birks (good support), crocs, and an occasional pair of flip flops. Roo will primarily be crocs. Unless it rains constantly and I get a pair of rain boots.

the pain I guess I'd describe as a toothache with an occasional shooting pain that can go up to my ankle and a little ways to the inside of my arch. an occasional throb as well.

if I press on the bottom of my heal, it's not as severe a pain as if I walk on it. it just seems to hurt, but feels a little less sensitive than earlier. It seems to feel better when it's elevated rather than me sitting in this chair.

oh and the pain is more on the inside of my heel rather than the outside, my feet tend to put more pressure on the outside of my foot (pronate or whatever it's opposite is)

it sounds to me like a torn ligament.. although some sandals do give good support, I would avoid them as your foot can also move a lot while wearing them.. atleast tape up your ankle nice and tight if you are wearing sandals

Rain boots are very loose fitting(atleast mine are) and your feet will move around in them, I wouldn't wear those if you are having foot problems

ugh my foot still hurts. I don't want to see a doctor. They'll be all nazi on me or like durrr we don't know you need to see another guy.

It hasn't really gone away. it does feel really wierd.
Going to get some ACE wrap tomorrow. Even more bleh.

You can tear a lig in your foot pretty easily actually, all it takes is the right twist of your foot.

Try that ACE wrap, and wear some tightly fitting boots to keep your feet from moving
