Since I'm having fun with the polls I want you guys to choose the next beer for me to brew. I'm really open to any of those listed. They are all good summer beers.
I just hope I don't screw it up. I always shed a tear over a ruined homebrew.

Thanks for this tread. I brew beer (haven't in a while due to living arrangements). Although I love a great wheat beer, IPA(COLD) just sounds light and refreshing for the upcoming heat. It ferments cold....do you have a chiller? Oh, did you recoved from a shitty week last week? Hope so. PS....My friend in Houston just brewed some pretty good "KIND Beer" that he is bringing to Roo. I think he's Boogfoot on the boards.
I'm just hoping it comes out ok. I'll be brewing it next weekend and if it come out ok I'll bring some to roo. If it's not good enough I won't bring it.

I have been addicted to Belgium whites as of late so thats my vote, it was so nice yesterday I picked up a six of Blue Moon and poured 3 in the biggest glass I could find and sat my ass outside...yuuummmmm
So what do you recommend for someone who wants to start brewing? Where can I get a good kit?
I'd look around online you'll find all kinds of good info.
As for the Belgian honey wheat. I'd have to use a different yeast strain for it. I'm not sure if a wit strain would live at 8+ percent. White labs might have something for that but I doubt it you don't see to many imperial wit beers. I'll bet you could but I'd imagine you'd have to pitch a bunch of yeast to get it up that high. Now I'm going to look for a Belgian yeast strain that can do that.

Finally, a poll that addresses issues of artistic, cultural, social, metaphysical, biochemical, geopolitical, and nutritional significance. I vote IPA. When in doubt, go hoppy. I've posted elsewhere in here my love for Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and how I've confirmed with the regional distribution people that it will again be flowing at Bonnaroo this year. In that hot Tennessee sun, it tastes so gooooood.

Homebrewing made my friend Kevin and me "famous"! This picture was in Relix magazine back in 95. We were selling black and tans out of the back of my pickup truck in the parking lot at the Charlotte Coliseum during the Dead's last run of shows. Parked in a different spot each of three days but we still had "regulars". I think I brewed Gray Folded Dark...
I think it comes down between the IPA and American Wheat. I like IPA more for general drinking purposes. But during those long hot summer days, absolutely nothing beats a good Wheat Ale. I'd say brew a batch of both.
P.S. What's up with some samples when we get to Tennessee?
