Nope... we tried bribing locals, sitting in line, getting rides in, trying to walk in... nothing worked. They turned us away. I'm really pissed off because I drove 8 hours up there and spent oodles of money for nothing

All I have to say is Phuck Phish!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw that they were giving refunds, but that is not enough people spent ridiculous amounts of money on getting there then told they can't get in?! That is ridiculous! I think they should do something else for those who did not get in.

My thoughts exactly man... there's only one type of phan who got in, and that was a selfish phan. My bf bribed someone with a LOT of money to get his way up to the front of the line. Some of us didnt have the money to do that... i spent a decent chunk of my tuition money on that trip. Man.

I'm with ya Bunny.
Drove all night and got in line at 5 a.m. Friday morning. Stayed in line for 21 hours. At that point we listened to the radio (the Bunny, as it turns out ) and realized that at the present rate there was no way we could expect to be in until at least Sunday evening (we were still south of exit 25). And then who knew when we might get out on Monday? So rather than take the chance that we'd be stuck in the mud until Wednesday--and get fired as a result--we sold our tix in line (for face and fees) and headed home with heavy hearts.
I'm REALLY disappointed with Great Northern and Phish. This, after all, was not their first big summer extravaganza. They knew what they could expect to deal with in terms of crowds and traffic etc. And from all the reports I've heard in the last 7 days they had done virtually no preparation work in case of rain. That's just stupid.
And from all accounts Trey was WAY off both nights anyway, so maybe it's a good thing that my last shows will be those two barnburners at SPAC. It's cold comfort, but comfort none the less, I guess.
The only thing is, now I have this weird feeling about the band. It sounds really pathetic, but I feel like I got robbed of my sense of closure by not getting into Coventry. Does anybody else get that feeling? It's like having an old friend pass away that you had argued with the last time you saw them, instead of saying 'I love you. Goodbye.' I really didn't want my last Phish show memory to be a 2 a.m. defeat when we turned the truck around and headed home showless.
And I've got to think that after their performance and all it's apparent shortcomings that Gordon's speech about "racking our brains to find a way to make it up to the fans" is just empty words.
So between Bonnaroo being less than expected, the shutout at Coventry, and my wife's refusal to go to moe.down we can officially declare this summer's festival season kind of a bust for The Jay.
(Sorry gang. I usually try not to be this big a bummer.)

the bunny says:
Yes, Phish left an empty kind of feeling in me by turning us away. I'm glad I saw them in Camden, but i'm very bitter about them giving us directions on what to do and then turning us away when we followed them. Meh.
I say, start planning for Roo '05! I've got my RV group! And hopefully there wont be any heatstrokes on my behalf this year.
I feel for those of you that didn't get in. I was right with you on sat. morning. But then we decided that we were getting in come hell or high water, or mud. I mean we had to pay the price to make it (7miles of walking, carrying all our sh!t), but it was easily worth it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Bunny, I really feel bad for you and the people like you that tried thier best, and still couldn't get in. I think you gotta throw expectations out the window, caution to the wind, whatever, and just make the best of what comes your way. Not just with festivals, but with everything life flings at you. I'm learning this very quickly. The show itself was ups and downs, just like all those damn hills we had to hike. Just to be there, and see all the emotion in the band and the crowd was unlike anything else I've ever seen. Trey was really off at points, but when he was on, boy was he. Mike and Page really left thier hearts on the stage though. They were both spectacular throughout. You gotta look at the 21 years as a whole and not let this letdown ruin your view of this amazing band. Good times, bad times what can I say.
This summer's SPAC shows were my 2 phinal shows, making a grand total of 23 shows.
I left the weekend at SPAC feeling rejuvenated by Phish, and feeling a desire to make the trek to Coventry. After a bit of back-n-forth on the pros/cons of going to Coventry, I'm glad I went with my gut instinct: stay home.
Somewhere in the back of my mind I knew it just wasn't going to work... the town of Coventry reminded me too much of the lack of infrastructure at Big Cypress. I spent 2 days trying to drive out of Cypress, and I knew the road to Coventry was gonna be a similar traffic catastrophe. With all that said, I was happy to end my Phish career on a high note with the 2 shows at SPAC.
For those who did go to Coventry and get turned away... for your sake, I hope the band does hold true to its word to make it up to ya. You deserve it.
I dont know about anyone else, but i didnt see anyone getting turned away (at least anyone that had a ticket). I even asked the troopers at the exit off the interstate if there was any way i could get through, and he said "yeah, park and walk".
I drove 12 hours to VT, sat in traffic for 46 hours and I did get in. Took a little heavy thinking, but i talked the cops into letting my car through the exit. I ended up being the last car through, even though after that i still sat in 6 hours of traffic. But all in all, it was soooooooo worth it.
