"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."

you have to hand it to him, hes entertaining... love this bit ".. I'm sure a lot of people expect some neon, lower east side, post everybody dressing like the 80's stuff or maybe the light up jacket from the Grammies, perhaps the robot girl and light spectacle they saw on Youtube from the European run. "
also, if this isnt at night, bonnaroo will have fucked up big time.
if somehow the other tent was twice the size it would actually be a pretty good spot, it's probably the only spot that has enough of a bowl that you can see the floor of the stage... but kanye needs alot of room for all the crap he's going to have going on, robots, holograms?
i feel like we are definitely missing something here as i dont see how this gets worked into a night spot...

This is interesting, because it sounds to me (albeit I could be reading too much into Kanye's statement, which is likely hyperbolic) that a set-up such as this would require a fair amount of time. That is to say, more time than is traditionally between acts.

This is how I feel. Methinks the schedule will be different than it has traditionally been.
yeah for sure, like when the lips landed the UFO last year they probably needed the whole headliner time and then some to get it all set up.
But you'd be surprised how fast these things can go, my uncle is a roadie for bryan adams and while i'm certain the lighting is no comparison they can set up a whole stage (like the actual stage) and everything else in maybe three hours. It really just comes down to how many people you've got lifting shit around.

it's a possibility. i've suggested it before but maybe somebody other than JJ does a show at night on sunday. otherwise maybe the tent stages have seen some massive upgrades.
that or we just don't get any glow in the dark and kanye opens for pearl jam.
Well I have really been saying that I thought he would be the what mini headliner, but ya know last year on Sat night we had Flaming Lips Govt Mule and galactic with guests all going down at oonce. Bearing that in mind a Kanye vs Phil vs ? bisco, Sigur etc... seems pretty plausible.
^^ Having a late-night show on the What stage would also greatly help in the "everyone-getting-the-hell-out-of-here" crush. Wouldn't be nearly as many people trying to funnel through to the rest of Centeroo.
It's gotta be late night. It's just gotta be. There's no way they can pass up a show like that. I'm guessing there could be a good possibility, as people have mentioned, of opening up What for late-night. Besides, they always say they try to change things and make improvements (i.e. bringing back the Which for late-night last year, adding Bonna Rouge, having interviews with directors in the cinema). If that doesn't happen, my guess is this: One of the headliners ends at 11:00. At 11:30, Kanye's show starts on Which. My guess is it'd be 1.5-2 hours, meaning it would end at 1:00-1:30. Phil Lesh could go on at 2:00, since he seems suited to play uber-late anyway. Just a thought.
Coolest part of this thread is that someone on Inforoo knows someone who is a roadie for Bryan Adams.
What would be cool is if someone on Inforoo knew someone who is a roadie for Ryan Adams, Bryan...not so much.
Yeah, it's neat to get free backstage passes etc, but it's bryan adams, so maybe it would be exciting for me if i was around the 80s but not really today.
Oh, and he uses a teleprompter... turns out alot of them do. They put the screens inside the monitor-shaped boxes so they look just like a big speaker at the front of the stage.

The lips were the same here in 2006, and that wasn't the ufo show, took them like 2hours to setup at sasquatch, they are returning to sasquatch festival this year as the headliner on the last day with the ufo show, we will see how long it takes them to set that up haha.. I should be right up at the front of the stage, mars volta goes on before them that night.
As for kayne at roo I dont see him doing the show just normal in the day time, I think all the shows hes doing this year are glow in the dark (I really think its likely to happen at Roo aswell), with his road crew and hes touring with lupe..
I hope lupe fiasco opens for Kanye latenight.. and does superstar right before kanye comes on

I think we need to make Kanye's show the biggest glow stick war show of the century. VIPer's you need to get the glowsticks in for us. Anybody down for this?
