Alright, in the spirit of all the window-dressings today (or at least for the next ten minutes) i am going to actually give the man a chance. I haven't paid much attention to Jack in the past, and from what i have heard (the uber-popular stuff) it hasn't done it for me.
Since he's closing it'll be hard NOT to go to his show, so i might as well know what to expect.
Where's the good stuff? An album recommendation, a link to a good live performance, or anything would be appreciated.
brushfire fairytales & on and on are definitely his best albums...don't get me wrong, in between dreams is good, but his first two are better....if you consider the curious george soundtrack one of his albums, thats pretty good as well....it's got a ton of other artists from brushfire records featured, so i would recommend listening to that since that entire label is confirmed to be at bonnaroo with the exception of like ALO, G. Love, and Matt Costa.....and his newest album is good, but if politics in music throw you off, you might not enjoy it........for the purposes of this thread though, his first two albums are what i consider "good jack johnson"
my suggestion would be that if you don't like any of the 'popular' songs, listen to all the other songs on either three of his first albums...all are chill.

I have seen jack at bonnaroo twice and throughly enjoyed both shows. I was hoping for a Phil closer on Sunday but am just as satisfied with Jack playing. I am always so tired by Sunday night that I think Jack will be a perfect show to sit back and sip a few brews and close out the weekend in style. I am just happy I don't have to endure another WSP 4 hour set to close out the weekend.
Follow this link to the archives site and you can stream or download as many JJ shows as you can take. Look for the higher rated shows for the best sounding boots. This will help you get a good feel as to what to expect in June. Enjoy.
Thanks for all the advice guys, i'll be downloading some of the earlier albums once my internet stops sucking.
Just by looking at these archive.org setlists and the prevalance of some interesting covers i think i'll probably like his bonnaroo show... who am i kidding, i've never been really dissapointed by a show at bonnaroo, there's just too many good vibes going around.
