See...I saw Phil with Haynes once....and it was awful....did find out later that Warren had the flu that night...considering he's been awesome the other 50 times...I guess he gets a pass.

Phil launched his summer tour and it has him playing his late night set at bonnaroo on the 14th and his acoustic set on the 15th at 3pm. Really excited about seeing this.
I've heard quite a few older boots and as far as my personal preferences go, the current lineup is kind of hard to beat. Langerado proved to me that all the right things are popping and everyone is shining in their own way. There's something completely new sounding about it all, but at the same time, they've dug deeper into the roots of the Dead with the acoustic sets and some of the earlier gems, such as Golden Road, that they've breathed new life into. Granted, I wasn't lucky enough to see the earlier lineups in person, so take my limited experience for what it's worth.

I agree, the lineup they have now is super tight these days. I saw them at Echo and it was the second show of their fall tour, and it was nothing to the caliber that Langerado was. IMO.

I worship Warren Haynes. And I really enjoyed the lineup that closed out Bonnaroo a couple years ago with Scofield and Osborne. But I've seen the current lineup twice now and will see them again next month and they're my favorite. They're tighter than any of the earlier lineups I've listened to and have really found their voice. Jackie's even figured out a way to harmonize with Phil so that Phil's vocal don't sound quite so . . . er . . . like Phil. I know it's not the Grateful Dead. I miss them, too. But this is an excellent band.
