I'm digging The Coup and Stephen Marley. The Wood Bros. are pretty good too. Don't know the rest. Decent additions... but nothing exactly fist-pump worthy here.

^^^ Awesome poster! That's be awesome if Nada Surf was added, they are just fantastic.
And Rogue Wave is the shit. Their last album is kinda meh although not terrible, but their first two albums are amazing. Start with "Descended Like Vultures" if you're trying to get into them!
Pretty lame additons to me ..... the only band I care about on there is The Wood Brothers. I saw them a couple of months ago and they played most of their new album that comes out in April and the songs blew the old ones outta the water. I'm really looking forward to their new album.

I'd rather have Aphex Twin than Tiesto.
seconded. i'd rather go to 'roo than deal with coachella, though, so it's a toss-up.
i saw tiesto @ voodoo last year. he put on a pretty good show.
agreed, he did put on a pretty good show at voodoo (i really wish that hadn't shorten pumpkins for him thought).
i think his late night saturday show (i'm guessing) will be pretty exciting. that show at voodoo was pretty cool, plus with the bonnaroo atmosphere how could it be bad?
and the coup sounds pretty interesting, shame that tom won't be joining them if rage is playing in europe, that got me really excited.
tiesto - * stephen marley - YAY! Newton Faulkner - * Money Mark - * Rogue Wave - heard the name, more research required The Wood Brothers - YAH!! The Coup - bio sounds very promising
why does coachella end at midnight every night? that seems so weak to me
It's not the festival's decision, but the local regulations, they get fined by the city for every minute they go past midnight. I've done two Coachellas and enjoyed them both but the early finish causes short sets (most get only 45 minutes) which are a let down. Also the vast majority don't camp - even if you do there's no in and outs from the campground - so you don't get that community feel.
My opinions (like anyone cares): Tiesto - Meh. They could've gotten a better electronic act (like Justice or Simian Mobile Disco). It should be a lot of fun though. Stephen Marley - He's alright. Not really my thing, but I might check him out. (They also could've done better here. Three words: Lee "Scratch" Perry) Money Mark - He's supposed to be pretty bland. He's touring with Jack Johnson though, so that explains why he's on the lineup The Coup - Now this one, I'm excited about. I'm guessing they'll round out Friday night's hip-hop show, along with Lupe and Talib The Wood Brothers - Enjoyable enough. Please, though, for the love of God, Bonnaroo, book Medeski, Scofield, Martin, and Wood Rogue Wave - My favorite addition to date. One of my favorite groups and a great, fun live act. They're last album, Asleep At Heaven's Gate, was one of the most underrated albums of last year Newton Faulkner - This guy sucks balls

I think care might be a strong word but I'm interested to hear what people think of the bands. Way too many bands to know everything about everyone and any opinions to steer me are appreciated personally. So bring on the thought.

Scratch Perry kind of sucks now. He's old and he half asses it a lot from what I gather.
As for Tiesto, I agree, sort of. The only problem is Justice and Simian Mobile Disco aren't necessarily the kind of djs who can close out a Saturday late night at Bonnaroo. Their sets are more 60-90 minute sets which is about half what you need to fill the time slot.

^^^Logistically, that makes sense. But if that was indeed the logic used, then it would be a clear-cut example of choosing quantity over quality.
Yeah, I'm over in the "disappointed" camp. Tiësto deserves some of his acclaim, Money Mark and The Coup may be interesting, and the rest are throwaways. Very, very disappointing.

I'm not thrilled, but I've also been pretty certain that I would only be truly thrilled by one addition, probably the jazz tent. This one fills a couple key needs for the lineup though. Marley fills the need for a major reggae act. Tiesto gives us the closing Saturday night DJ. The Coup pretty much rounds out the hip/hop, which is pretty stellar this year, imo.
I still see room for one or two more top bill additions.
As for Tiesto, I understand the disappointment, but take personal taste out of the mix, and I think it's clearly a step up from Sasha & Digweed the past few years. And let's be real, as cool as the Amon Tobin's and Aphex Twin's of the world are, they're not exactly known for getting people dancing. I would've preferred someone like Fatboy Slim, but it's hard to justify burying a big name top dollar DJ at a time when a majority of the festival's going to be sleeping in their tents.
I would be willing to bet, Tiesto the most the festival's spent on that slot so far. I'm pretty happy with it myself.

True, Tiësto is a step up of sorts. And I also have little room to complain after already doing so regarding a lack of electronic diversity in the Datarock thread. For me, at least, the problem remains that I'm not as interested in dancing as I am in listening to music that I find intellectually stimulating. That's why I'd see Amon or Aphex ten times over before checking out Tiësto.
