I just picked the album by The Whigs up "Mission Control", this is the best album I have heard this year to date, would love to see them at the 'Roo. Think they would fit in perfectly and probably blow away the over hyped Vampire Weekend.
The Vampire Weekend album is pretty good, haven't heard this new Whigs album, but IDK if I would call VW over-hyped
I just say VW is over hyped because they have been plastered on everything much the way Arctic Monkeys were a few years back. Don't get me wrong the VW album is solid but after seeing them on every late night show (SNL), reviews making them look like the next stones, too much buzz for me IMHO.
Check out the single "Right Hand On My Heart" from The Whigs. I get a little Strokes, Cold War Kids, and their own spice.
It gives the media something to talk about this early in the year, and there are still many many wonderful albums to come out later this year. Hence all the hype thus far. Anyway....
I'll have to check out this album. I heard good things about the Whigs last year.
I've been hoping we'll see The Whigs in a Thursday night or early afternoon tent. Anyone checked out their upcoming dates?
I didn't catch them last year, but really enjoy that new album. Would love to see them at the Roo.
I think there is a chance they will play Roo as they are playing the Bana Jama fest in AL on June 7th, with nothing else scheduled for June as of yet and they are from GA so it isn't far from home.
