I put this in another thread but thought I would repost it here, this may be irrational exuberance, but I am feeling it. hope you guys can excuse the putting it in two threads.
So I am curious as to whether or not the elder Dylan is going to make a appearance with all the Dylan related stuff going on.
1 His son will be there 2 Levon Helm from the Band 3 Larry Campbell longtime guitar player 4 D.A. Pennebaker (Documentary film Maker, his latest was a Dylan movie and he is currently listed in the cinema section)
I checked his web page and his tour dates do not extend through June so I don't know if he will be on tour or not.
Anyway just wanted to what you guys thought, I am a long time lurker first time poster. I went in 06, and 07 plus VIP for this year so I am pretty excited.
The pair of iconic musicians are collaborating on a series of unfinished songs by country legend Hank Williams. White is understood to be one of a number of stars to be approached by Dylan to write lyrics for one of the incomplete tracks. He has recorded a new version of "You Know That I Know", after Bob enlisted a series of musicians to work on as many as 25 tracks. "He did one, asked Willie Nelson to do one, asked me to do one, and I think Lucinda Williams and Alan Jackson are on it too. "I think it might come out this year. It's a cool record, said White, speaking about the project to MTV. As previously reported, Jack is expected to return with The Raconteurs later this year, with a number of European festival appearances confirmed.
6. Willie as well, I guess I am starting to feel the Dylan vibe pretty positively

nah, it's just like the zeppelin vibes in past years.

First of all, even though I myself don't enjoy their music, we're getting Metallica, which alone would be around the same price of full festival tickets. So the deal is that extras are included.
Now let's forget about Metallica. Easy enough, right?
Look at what we're really getting: Pearl Jam; Kanye; Jack Johnson; Chris Rock; Phil Lesh; Allman Brothers; Raconteurs; Willie Nelson; B.B. King; OAR; Gogol Bordello; Robert Randolf; Lupe Fiasco; Tegan and Sara; Lez Zeppelin (hey, they do Led's songs justic if you ask me); and Little Feat. This is just my selection of artists to see and it itself is incredibly diverse...even without the dozens of others. And really, if you've seen ANY of these bands live, you'd know how great of a show you're in for come June.
Add up the average going for each of their tickets and tell me the tickets you bought on the 16th weren't worth it.
Then think of the fact that you'll be camped for four days around what seems to be 80,000 of the most chill people to flock to Tennessee at one time.
All of this will be packed into one great aggregate memory that quite frankly, you saved an ass-load of money for.
yeah, you're really not gonna see the clash, dylan, tom waits or any other bigger names like that. I'm guessing it's mostly gonna be jazz/cafe acts with a handful of larger names.
I'm guessing that was a typo and should have read the Cure....I'm hoping so...because if The Clash is touring without Strummer I may just end it all tonight.

I guess I'm feeling so skeptical out of extreme anticipation and impatience for the new additions...don't want to rain on the Roo parade ya'll seriously, but way anxious to see!!! Addition rumors are: REM ALO Beth Orton Patti Smith Ringo Mars Volta Breeders Modest Mouse B. Dennen Leftover Salmon
Agree/Disagree!?
I doubt REM/Modest Mouse/The National will be added- they are playing shows in MA and NY the weekend of Roo.
I think Modest Mouse has a pretty good chance to be added. They are playing a tour with REM and The National and they don't have gigs on Friday or Sunday of Bonnaroo. Wouldn't be my first choice, but it's definitely possible

Not too sure about Mars Volta...never seen them, but was lucky enough to see At The Drive-in about 10 years ago and they BLEW MY MIND!!!!! Some reason I cant see feeling the same way about MV! Can someone change my mind and get me stoked for MV!!!!

first of all, amen. i would love to see the mouse.
don't get excited about additions though. last year i got all wound up about additions and got the mardi gras something-or-anothers. wasn't anything to write home to mom about.
what you see on that poster is basically what you are going to get unless you get pumped about the small tent acts.

I slit the sheet. The sheet I slit and on the slitted sheet I sit.

Yeah... Ornette Coleman definitely wasn't worth the ink in my pen
last year's additions certainly had a few big names, but previous years have definitely had a bigger portion of the talent spread out in additions. last year was the first year with the cafe acts being announced in a huge blaock like that. i think you have to admit, when a festie like roo churns out a 40 person addition in one day like that, and they are all basically anonymous to the general fan base, some grumbling is bound to ensue. with that said, i hope they saved a little more fire power this year. big additions are almost more fun than the initial lineup.

All I have to say is that I'm over $500 invested in this year already (airfare & Roo tics), so I better see some quality additions SOON!!! I'm beginning to think that maybe Roo is trying to get some extra money this year on a not-so-good lineup. What do they care...I'm sure they've already sold more tickets now than they did this time last year based on a bogus Zeppelin rumor. Well look they got my $250 on the morning of Feb. 16!!! Sorry for the negativity guys/gals, but I need something better than what we've got already. Anyone else feel this way!?
why would you spend so much money on something you arent even totally sold on when you buy it? i bought a ticket because the bands that are listed now are worth more than $250 for me to see already. anyone who bought tickets based on the grounds of potentially seeing led zeppelin is not very realistic.
Last year, I asked for adds of Broken Social Scene, Jose Gonzalez, and The Album Leaf. This year, two of the three are here.
This year, even though it won't happen, I want The Album Leaf (not gonna happen with BSS and Sigur Ros already there), Justice, and Ryan Adams. If someone can give me a reason why Ryan Adams has never graced the farm with his presence, I would love to hear it.

Not...at all.
On the last US metallica tour went for around $55.
