This is my first Inforoo post. Ive been a long time reader. This year will be my second bonnaroo, last year was my first. After last year I dont think I will miss a bonnaroo for a long long time.
anyways i was just wondering if anyone whose actually seen Jack Johnson live before could shed some light on what a live jack johnson concert is like. I enjoy his music and I go to a lot of concerts but with no disrespect towards him i've never really desired to see him live. His music has always been something that id listen to when im just chillin and relaxing alone in my room. Are his live shows good or fun or anything? Should I be excited to see him at the roo?

I saw him open for ben harper a few years back and thought it was pretty good. It is laid back but fun i do think his roo set could be worth catching depending on what may be going on.
He just chills up on stage on a big rug barefoot with his acousitc and plays. Thats Jack. He'll have a guest every now and then. Prob Frankenreiter will join him at Roo, but who knows. He plays melodies. Its a real chill show, but great.
Did anyone see the guy climb waaaay up in that big tree at the which stage during JJ's roo set before? it was raining and jack tried to coax him down before something tragic happened.
no man sorry. About the dude up in the tree... It was lightning so bad...that guy was nuts!! haha...it did sound like i meant that he commented on me....no not quite.
OOOh My bad. i was in super awe for a moment...its like JJ said "holy poo from my butt theres(insert name here) I cant believe they made it"....i wish that would have been the way it went

Saw him on (what is know called) the Which stage at the first Roo. It was a great lazy summer afternoon, sitting in the sun music. Especially when he had the kid on drums at the beginning of his set. Honestly, never thought he would become headliner material. Goes to show you never know what's going to happen in the world of music.
A somewhat related story...Bonnaroo 2005 We were at the late night Galactic show. Some dude is going nuts on his sax on stage. I notice a guy standing right behind me in a gigantic sombrero. I'm thinking "what a jackass, etc." He had a really tall friend with him. A couple seconds letter I realize the tall friend was Jack Johnson. I didn't bug him or anything. But please note Jack Johnson is friends with a douche who wears giant sombreros to concerts.
i've seen him twice and i got to meet him outside of my 1st show at a small club called the NORVA... before he got huge... he walked right out the front door to go to the mall across the street to get dvd's for his tour bus... he came out before the show and signed anything you wanted him too... he was an incredibly chill guy...
as for his shows... i've noticed they're getting more tight... a little better flowing and they've always been a good time...
I have a friend that actually does not like his studio work but likes him live - I cannot wait - Sunday night is gonna be great for me - just chilling listening to Jack - I may actually stay through a whole show on Sunday night instead of heading back to camp early

ya i was thinking about how i might head home early if Jack closed out the festival... but i was loading up my ipod with his music last night since i own all of his cd's... and there's only about 2 songs of his that i can't really stomach... and that's saying alot...
i guess i'll be sticking around to see him for the 3rd time! :-)

I've seen him 4 times (2 at Bonnaroo) and enjoyed it. There isn't going to be anything mind blowing about it, but it is always a good time. Bonnaroo '05 was my favorite show of his.

Jack's show is just one big chill sing-a-long. Expect nothing more, and nothing less. If thats not your thing then go home early, more room for us who stay.
(Also, in '05, Jack was hanging out by the stage, watching him some late-nite Volta, the man has good taste in tunes )
super chill (borderline sleepy), which would b nice for a late afternoon nap in the shade on the which stage, but i still don't see how he could b a satisfying festival closer. just not the right vibe to be a grand finale.
