can we get the clues up here again and put the bands they are. Because I have been thinking about this also. Does anyone think there is a possibility that some of the clues refer to bands that will be in the artist additions?
"I want you to notice When I'm not around You're so fücking special I wish I was special But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here" -Radiohead
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” -Benjamin Franklin
Not sure if it's been posted before....and I really wasn't following it to the degree a number of other people were. But I think I did manage to get :
Hard substance/soft substance = Pearl Jam
A lot of folks were guessing Iron and Wine on that one. I'm skeptical that most of the clues referred to lesser bands but had strong hints towards all the major rumored bands (especially that "other Manchester" one).
Can someone PLEASE post the clues with the bands to which they referred?
4 Some Herrings are red, Jimmy 5 Hard Substance, Soft Substance Iron and WIne?
6 Janis Joplin's preserves will be served Pearl Jam
7 Rumors are just rumors, but twist them sideways, grow your humor hair and they become a more yen reality. No, this is not about Fleetwood Mac lez zep?

I heard another one about 10 minutes before the lineup came out... something along the lines of "Look to the DJ JD to shorten your way" [/color]but the board imploded before I could post it.
Not sure what it referred to. Might have just been the DJ talking about the clues being helpful to us.

Oh, yay, I'd sort of been thinking of starting a thread to discuss how this worked out!
I think the one about Charlie's imaginary band not playing and the "what is in the desert isn't" were definitely both telling us Oasis wasn't playing. Seems like no matter what our boy DJ JD Farmhand said we weren't getting it up until the clue about "disregard the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards...google that, baby!" And then we finally got it...haha. There's more than one Manchester could possibly have been saying the same thing, as in...Oasis is from one Manchester, but they won't be playing this Manchester.
I'd be really really interested to see how some of the other clues work out, a few still have me completely stumped! I wish they'd enlighten us at some point.
Does anyone know how the whole thing ended? I believe just as the line-up went live, JD said something about listening to him and he would save you some time. Something like what cajuninsaudi remembered, but I think maybe he said similar things at two different times. With all the line-up frenzy I sort of never got back to the clues board and I wasn't paying much attention to radio roo either, so I never got to hear what if anything he said about it. I kinda expected some kind of "thanks for playing, you guys got a few of these right" message to end it all!

the "more than one Manchester" and "The Walrus aint Paul"......... could either or both of these refer to Ringo Starr? yet to be announced? ....and singing about his home town of Manchester. he is touring this year.

I can't remember whether there were rumors of Oasis before all this or whether all the "NO NOT OASIS OKAY" clues only started after we started thinking the "more than one Manchester clue" was about them. It might have just been that once we got that wrong, they kept trying to correct us and we kept getting the "Oasis" part without getting the "not" part...haha.
I too love the Lost references!
Also...Ringo isn't from Manchester...he's from Liverpool, same as the others. I still say I will be extremely surprised if Ringo is there. Plus, he tours every year, it's not like this year is special.

I think the Memphis isn't Albany clue definitely was M.I.A., considering we later saw "Memphis ain't Ill-bany" and "Arizona in Manchester" - two other configurations of the same letters.
