This will be my first year at roo and I'm just trying to figure out what other bands I should check out. I'm into most types of music, classic rock (Zeppelin, Petty, Jimi etc.), new rock/alternative (The Flaming Lips, Louis XIV, Chili Peppers etc.). Reggae, Hip Hop (although Kanye will probably be plenty). For those of you who have seen Chapelle's Block Party thats the type of hip hop/reggae stuff i like. (Erykah Badu, the Roots, Wyclef Jean) I know most of the headliners but i'm not familiar with many of the other bands on the lineup. I will definately be at: Pearl Jam Kanye Robert Plant (although I dont really know what to expect here, all of my plant listening has been Zep stuff) The Raconteurs Death Cab State Radio
I have seen the following Live and would go agian if theres no one else playing that tickles my fancy: OAR Ben Folds The Allman Bros Little Feat
Who else should i check out? any help would be great thanks!

you'll want to see the allman brothers. don't put it on an alternate list

that's just a few i want to see. the problem with asking a question like this on this board, is that eventually you'll just have a list of the entire lineup. everyone's tastes are different...that's why festivals are awesome...because you can find what suits you.
just start looking up bands you don't know and listening to some of their songs. see if it speaks to you. good luck in your hunt.
If you're asking for an opinion, my most anticipated artists are Sigur Ros (very mellow mood music, sung in Icelandic, with slow dynamics... fantastic act.) Allmans (you already know of them, I assume) and Battles (think experimental math-rock... kind of in the same vein as Tortoise. Very jazzy compositions and indie rock delivery... if that makes a lick of sense.).

MY MORNING JACKET!!! you should try checking out some of their myspace pages and listening to what they have up and see what bands sound like your style.
the raconteurs and robert plant will be good but u should also see the allman brothers, management(mgmt) is gonna be a good psychedelic band, try lez zepplin? i havnt hear much about them but maybe their okay?
Vampire Weekend, Minus the Bear, Avett Brothers, Broken Social Scene, Iron and Wine, MIA, Talib Kweli, Two Gallants, Sigur Ros and for the love of god DO NOT MISS MY MORNING JACKET. If you see only see one band other than Pearl Jam and the Raconteurs at the festival, make sure it is My Morning Jacket. It will be one of the greatest shows you have ever seen in your life.

at2roo08, I pretty much have the same taste in music and loved Chappelle's Block Party, so for the love of God, DO NOT MISS THE FOLLOWING: 1. The Allmens ( w Warren and Derrick there, this WILL be the show at Roo. Trust me) 2. YMSB w/ Phish's drummer John Fishman ( Just an overall great show and great time ) 3. Robert Randolph's Revival ( will rival The Allmen's as best show of the weekend. Again, trust me.) 4. GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY ( dont think about it...dont listen to them before...just show up where they are playing and get ready.)
Honorable Mention to : 1. Metallica ( not for everyone, but great live) 2. Truck's and Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival ( may be a REAL TREAT ) 3. MGMT / Vampire Weekend( bought both albums- love them both. MGMT from Flaming Lips Producer)
Heard through the Grapevive to see but not familiar with : 1. Battles 2. Israel Vibration 3. Ozomati ( i will be checking out all 3 )
and: DO NOT MISS KANYE ( awsome ) OR PJ, But ive seen MMJ 3 times and thought nothing spectacular, sorry.....like them, dont love them.........see you at Roo 08
