I haven't been a fan of Pearl Jam's post-Yield work, but I ... ahem ... acquired a copy of this 7-CD set the other night and have been listening to it on my iPod here at work.
I'm still not huge on their post-Yield work, but this is definitely getting me excited about their headlining slot on the farm in a few months.
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.
It's been a REALLY long time since I've listened to OK Computer, but Kid A, Amnesiac, and In Rainbows are all pretty bland to me.
wow..
what we have here is the textbook definition of "diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks"
and I agree with that. no smite from me either, just find it amusing that something I can not stop listening to (In Rainbows), someone else finds boring. But then a movie I loved (Once) someone else on Netflix said it was terrible. Makes the world go around does it not?

I bought this about a week ago and it has been spinning in my cd player ever since. I have a feeling that will change when I get Girl Talk - Night Ripper and Vampire Weekend in the mail this week, but PJ will still get heavy rotation.

To be fair, one of my all-time favorite bands (KMFDM) probably sends most of the kids around here running for the hills.
I would love some KMFDM at the farm personally. That would seriously have some hippies tweeking out pretty hardcore if they had a late night set or something. I have something like 26 albums of their material. Karma for the KMFDM love.
Now Radiohead I despised for a long time......until last year. I decided to give them a fair chance and listened to all of their albums and now I am a big fan. I think the closest that roo will get to Radiohead again will be with Sigur Ros this year.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

I've seen 'em three times since the "reunion" and they've yet to disappoint. I'd *love* to see a late-night KMFDM, even if it's in The Other Tent.
KMFDM fits roo a helluva lot more than some of the stuff we have seen added already this year. Roo getting KMFDM might just be the "piss in the eye" equivalent of coachella getting roger waters.
Ive tried really really hard, but I still havent been able to get into Radiohead. I know they're talented. I know many people with fantastic taste who loves them, but I just can't get into them at all.
I'm really looking to see how Pearl Jam matches up against Tool last year or even Metallica this year.
Back to the idea of this thread....I got the Gorge thing yesterday...listened to the whole first show last night....it started off strong but did seem to blend together and lag a little once we got to hour three....
But....I LOVE the way Eddie just harasses Tom Petty all night....HILARIOUS!
