Metallica, Kanye, Against me! they are the only ones i don't care to see. Not trying to start any crap, just wanting to see what ya crazy pple think. sorry if i double posted i messed up and hit the enter button prematurely
I don't think your opinion would be controversial in the least. Metallica doesn't fit. Kanye isn't well liked. Against Me! just released an album that alienated a large portion of their fanbase.
I personally do not care for Metallica or Against Me!, but Kanye's live show is spectacle on a high level and will be a must see for me if I go.

I'd have to disagree. I'm not a fan of Metallica, but I don't have a problem with them being there. I'm a casual Kanye fan, and I'm looking forward to getting the chance to see him live, something I would never do otherwise. And of course, being my favorite band, I'm stoked to see Against Me! at the farm. What is it about them that you hate so much?
I want to see kanye's show, looks like he has a crazy light show, anyone see him at the grammys? when the pyramid thing parts was freakin sweet, daft punk sittin in there doing their thing with those crazy clothes
I gotta say I am so stoked to see Kanye.I saw him a few years ago and he blew me away. Could care less about Metallica or Against Me! I'm sure they are good to the people that like them. Just not for me.

zomg im listening to tegan and sara right now. i think theyre pretty phenomenal. against me! is also fucking good. the only band i listened to and didnt find that interesting was ozamati or whatever it is.

For the most part I agree. Metallica not only doesn't fit in at Bonnaroo, most of their original fanbase has been disheartened over the years. Their style has changed which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but for a metal band it seems they have gotten soft over the years and lost their edge. St. Anger, their latest album from 2003, was terrible. Many would probably agree it was their worst. And not to mention if you saw "Some Kind of Monster" it made the whole band look like a bunch of bickering girls always cat fighting each other. I just don't understand how a washed up metal band has snagged a headlining spot at Bonnaroo.
As far as Against Me! goes, I myself don't like them at all. Theirs just nothing special to me. It's just boring. I actually think their new album is better than their prior attempts which puts me in a different place than most of their actual fans. But I still just don't think they're very good. Probably not my least favorite band at roo though.
Now Kanye......I can't wait to see what Kanye does in front of probably 70,000 people. I saw him live right after Late Registration came out and he put on an awesome live show. Set changes, crazy lights, good dj, it was a very well put together stage show. And with what I saw of him at the grammys this weekend, he has a lot of tricks up his sleeve that I'm waiting to see come out at Roo. For everyone who just doesn't like him cause he's arrogant, or he's too cocky, a lot of great artists are downright bastards but you have to get past that and listen to the music. His lyrics are no average pop rap crap. And his beats are some of the best out there. I'm saying everyone should atleast drop in on Kanye's show to see whats up and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I enjoy Metallica and Kanye West and have seen Metallica 5 times and Kanye 3. Very much looking forward to both shows. I haven't heard anything from Against Me. The bottom line is nothing will stop me from having a good time. Good bands bad bands I am sure there will be something to keep me occupied at all times.
I cannot disagree more. I don't think there's a single "bad" band. I mean i really disliked Rilo Kiley's new disc, but I LOVE their old stuff. And really that's the only complaint I have of anyone on the lineup. I'm planning on seeing all three of those bands (well depending on conflicts)
i'm really excited for metallica... as big as douchebags theyve made themselves out to be, no one can argue that they are of legendary status. They are one of the few pioneers of the big rock-metal movement. I'm also really excited to see what kanye does for everyone...his lyrics are so smooth and he makes some of the best beats i've ever heard. As for against me!...i have no idea. all i've heard is 'sink florida sink' and its not bad. might catch their set if nothing else conflicts

I can only really speak for Metallica and Kanye. I don't like metallica nor do I like any true metal band. The closest thing to metal that I like is Rodrigo y Gabriela. I'm sure Kanye will put on an amazing light show cause I saw it on youtube, only think was that I honestly could not enjoy the light show with that music going on. I absolutely hated it.
But thats just me, everyone is different. I hope he does a late night show cause then it will mean I won't have to go through the crap like last year with no matter what you choose a little part of you dies inside.

From what I understand Kanye got a good price on the pyramid and that was not daft punk at the grammys but rather a pair of animatronic robots. Apparently decided he'd had so much success recycling their song, why not their tour?

Also, let's not forget that Daft Punk re-released Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger as a single about two months after Kanye released Stronger. Who's capitalizing on who here?

Yes and they sold the pyramid to him too. I don't blame them. Who wouldn't want some of Kanye's money? But to be fair they did give him a good price...and I did say recycle not rip off.

thats true. "Worst" is very relative, which is kind of the opposite of a bar graph tally, probably should have written a more productive thread. i'll say what I will bout the bands, when it's all said and done, at the rOO, you don't even have the capacity to understand anything not awesome. hell, i even have mostly positive memory's involving the glorious porta-johns. and if I accidentally take and or schnoz a few adderall i just may or probably will show up dancing at the Kanye show. I'm just going to do myself a favor and not rule anything out this year. and i think should probably only post when I'm drinking i think.
