Correction: That would be Lez Zeppelin at Bonnaroo, not Led Zeppelin
February 6, 2008 Several media outlets — including the Associated Press, Britain’s NME and the Sun-Times — reported early this morning some very exciting news: that Led Zeppelin was finally booked for a stateside gig at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Problem is — it’s not happening.

Jim DeRogatis: Lez, not Led The actual band booked for the festival — and trumpeted atop yesterday’s lineup press release — is Lez Zeppelin. That would be the all-female Led Zeppelin tribute band.
Rumors had been circulating for months that Led Zeppelin would make its stateside landfall at the Bonnaroo festival.
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page said last week he was ready to take the iconic band on a world tour after burning up the stage at last month’s reunion concert in London. But he added a tour likely wouldn’t materialize before September.
Really, Superfly should have just stayed away from booking anything Zeppelin (outside of Plant), when it was for sure they wouldn't be coming to the 2008 fest. they have no one to blame but themselves, b/c we know the idiot media has no culpability. Print first, research later.

Sounds like they really sent out a misleading press release. Anyways, this gives me enough to feel like it was all a misunderstanding, and to move on with the impression that we have our three headliners.

Yes, let us move on and hope for some decent additions in the upcoming months... I for one would love to see Mars Volta be added to the lineup... although it seems like the artist additions after the initial lineup are not generally big name bands...
hmmmm if a tour is more likely come september, id say lolla, or virgin, who are later in the summer and haven't announced the lineups yet are more likely to catch a zep stateside debut to jack up the frenzy before a fall world tour. esp lolla cuz its a big city with ample hotel rooms for all the high rollers and zep fanatics who shelled out major cash (or at least tried to) for the O2 show. also, the fact that lolla sells single day tickets increases the chances as well, since a lot of zep ppl (presumably the older ones) would not be interested in a weekend of camping on a farm when they are really only there for zeppelin.
I don't think Superfly put Lez Zeppelin on the top of their lists. I think it was just a mistake made by NME and AP...they probably saw it in the alphabetical list that came out first.
Hey, Jude, don't be afraid. You were made to go out and get her. The minute you let her under your skin, Then you begin to make it better.
And any time you feel the pain, Hey Jude, refrain. Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. Well don't you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder.

an Inforoo poster, forget his name, had the actual press release. The phrase LEZ ZEPPELIN CONFIRMED was put in all caps like that as if to be a major announcement. They were farking with the press, and NME set off a domino effect of bullshiat
Why the hell is Roo getting a cover band to begin with is all I want to know. I can go to my local venue and see Zoso, and they actually look like Zep? I'm just not sure why they are on the lineup to begin with. I would rather a band I have never heard of that plays origional stuff, even if I didn't like it, it would be new to me.
And I agree, Zep isn't going to start off a world tour with a festival. They are going to play some shows in some medium sized cities and get their feet wet again, just like the police did. Then they will play bonnaroo for us next year. How could they not, 2 out of the 3 origional members will have already played there.
At least that is what I'm wishing for, and I'll crap in the other hand and I'm pretty sure I know what I'll end up with.
