Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Talib Kweli are 3 amazing hip hop acts for Roo. As a fan of hip hop along with many other genres these 3 guys have me excited, especially Lupe who has maybe the album of the year.
I saw Kanye once live at a college festival and he put on a really good show, and this was before Graduation came out, which I think is his best album.
I am in the anti-Metallica camp, and hoping that M.I.A. or Donavon Frankenreiter will be playing on anotherstage at the same time so I can check them out. I dont care what else is going on though, I will not be watching Metallica.
metallica will have its own timeslot with no other acts (save the silent disco maybe...) as for Kanye..... I'm not expert or anything but i was bored out of my mind when he Headlined Lolla, even Jesus walks was bad IMO I give mad Props to A-trak (Kanye's DJ) as well as Lupe Fiasco and Twista who saved Kanye's sorry ass during that show Kanye is a talented producer but the man cannot flow....

i saw talib kweli at university of rochester last may and he was good, considering i haven't really been into hip hop since i was 9. i'd definitely see his show again.

A-Trak is the fuckin bomb. He's the dude who introduce Kanye to Daft Punk and if anyone hasn't heard his remix of Kanye's Stronger, do yourself a favor and google it.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
speaking of kanye and a trak....traks girlfriend has her own act her name is Kid Sister and she is amazing...not to mention fiiiinnnneeee....mmm mmm...i would of really loved to see her and Chromeo and Cool Kids on this list...i hope some or all is added...maybe cause they play coachella...
One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain. So hit me with music. Hit me with music, now, yeah. Hit me with music. Brutalize me with music.
i think a-trak should get a spot in the arcade tent or something that just showcases him. its great that he "kanye's dj" and all, but the guy deserves to be shown on his own. he was the DMC world champion at 15!! one of the best turntablist/djs out there.
i definitely can't wait to hear "jesus walks" though. does kanye ever use a live band btw?
yeah and lupe fiasco is a definite must see for me. The Cool is pure awesomeness.
talib's album was ok. nothing really breathtaking for me.
i'm still hoping for a few more hip hop acts. and i'm praying for dj z-trip. oh please great bonnagods!
After every song he would yell, "Can you dig it?" wanting the crowd to respond with, "Yes I can." It was almost like being at a rally or something. I hope he comes with his A game though..

sounds like he was trying to imitate Cyrus from the warriors.

i agree with this. i am not a huge hip hop fan but lupe and talib kweli are easily the top two acts i would want to see if i went to a hip hop show. im not a kanye fan because i think he is a jackass for the most part, but he is def a top name in hip hop.
with the amount of diversity this lineup has, its going to be QUACKING NUTTY but i also think bonnaroo has just set them selves up for a MEGA year in 09. sorry to be thinking so far ahead but im just thinking wow what the fuck kinda curveball are they gonna throw us next year? metallica and kanye were huge surprises to me.
Ugh, I cant stand Kanye West. His arrogance pisses me off. Yeah yeah I know, part of hip hop is how you present yourself but I feel hes an asshole about it and I really cant dig on his music at all (each to his own though so I aint gonna hate on ya for liking him) and Im very surprised to see such an act as a Roo headliner. Plus, he ruined daft punk. Complete and total disregard for the thumpin bass line and he completely omitted parts of it.
we all have to remember that most of the hip hop at bonnaroo throughout the years has come in the final artist additions, so i wouldn't be surprised if we were to see some saul williams, mos def, common or even public enemy. public enemy is supposedly touring until the end of may performing only their songs off of their first album.

i couldn't be happier with the hip hop, well except for some beastie beastie boys getting live on the spot. I mean, Lupe and Kanye ran the train on hip hop this year with two of the best albums. I can't wait to hear what they've got for us. And just wait for the adds, this is going to be great.

you mean the "Remix" where all he does is turn up the bass? bonnaroo needs some don't look back action, like gza doing all of liquid swords (last year at pitchfork) or raekwon doing all of cuban linx (like he's doing in london soon). kanye? meh.
