There is enough there for me to get excited and ready to buy a ticket. Some I could do without, but there are always choices to made and they just made some easier for me.

First Impression: theres a lot of mid-level acts taht I want to see or would like to see again.
Second Impression: I wish we'd gotten Portishead or Roger Waters. I've seen all the headliners except for Metallica and dont want to see any of them again. :-\
Yeah..i feel bad now for getting on coachella about their headliners...in retrospect...I would trade metallica and Kanye for Roger Waters in a heartbeat....
and all you create, and all you destroy ..........
I am trying to be positive, but cannot help it. Disappointed. I'm hoping that the additional announcements bring on that 'wow' factor; musical diversity aside.
I'm a bit dissapointed about the headliners, but honestly, last year we only went to one headlining show, and caught like three songs from another. The headliners are not what will make or break my Roo weekend for me. In just this initial lineup, I see at least 25 great artists that I will want to watch, which is more than I got to see last year at Roo. I think that makes buying a ticket well worth the money.
The headliners are definetly a dissapointment to me. Metallica and Kanye West? Really?
I think they would have ALOT done better had they gotten Rage Against The Machine and A Tribe Called Quest instead of those two.
AMEN
I hate the lineup. I usually don't care about Headliners if the rest of the lineup is good- but it isn't. I will still have to see the schedule first though, because there are enough good artists to be spread over four days.
The more I look at the Bonnaroo lineup, the more I like the Langerado lineup.
I'm with you. For me, Langerado looks way better. I'm seriously thinking of Big Cypress now. I'm on board for Mountain Jam and looking forward to a good lineup for APW. Right now I'm thinking no Roo for me this year.
That was first impression. I'm coming round to a pretty positive second impression though. I do believe I will be enjoying some Manchester Madness after all.

Best INITIAL lineup ever? Maybe. But definitely awesome. Now that we have an initial lineup, let's get those damn additions and -- most important of all now -- the f-ing schedule. I see difficult Bonnflicts in our future.
Second Impression: I wish we'd gotten Portishead or Roger Waters. I've seen all the headliners except for Metallica and dont want to see any of them again. :-\
Exactamundo.
I was on the fence about doing Roo this year, but the lineup pushed me emphatically off. Looks like All Good or something else for me. If only Coachella weren't so damn far away.
Not here to piss in anyone's Cheerios about it though. If this is your dream lineup... have at it. Have a great time, and maybe I'll see ya next year.
I personally was blown away by the undercard even if the headliners left me underwhelmed. I was almost positive that Metallica and PJ were going to headline after the radio roo clues and whatnot, so that didn't surprise or bother me. In fact I am looking forward to seeing both. I am bothered by Jack Johnson headlining, and I don't dislike him at all. Just not a way I want to close the fest. I have skipped a headliner or two on a friday or saturday (especially the 2005 DMB and 2 nights of WSP), but I always catch the Sunday headliner, this year may be the year that I use a bunch of that time to pack up.
I voted best lineup ever despite my mixed feelings over the headliners (and MIA who I despise) because when I get past JJ and MIA and Kanye I see the best group of diverse bands overall that the fest has ever pulled together. And when have we ever gotten so many legends? BB King, Willie, ABB, Little Feat, Robert Plant, Solomon Burke, Levon Helm, and most of all Phil Lesh! Those alone had me totally psyched. Throw in some of the usual suspects, a heavier dose of bluegrass than in the past couple years, and new bands like Vampire Weekend, the Felice Brothers, and Black Kids, plus the return to the farm of Jack White and I am more than satisfied.
yea, metallica and PJ were so obvious after the clues that anyone who read those should've been prepared.
I voted awesome, b/c in my mind, 2006 is the best lineup ever, with 2004 right behind it. And then follow that up with 2002. I think this one is right now on the level of 2004 with the potential to surpass it.
What I do know is that I have been to Bonnaroo every year, and the EVEN numbered years have all been consistently the best, both in terms of lineup and actual festival vibe, 2006 being the peak of that.
In each of 2003, 2005, and 2007 I did feel the festival failed to live up to the expectations built by the previous year, but were still *GREAT* regardless.
Probably means nothing, but to me, the fact that it's an even year, and the lineup right now is (to me anyway) right around the 2nd or 3rd best they've ever had, is a very good thing.
Agreed about the even years being the best except that my first was 2003 and that blew me out of the water not knowing exactly what to expect. I then rank 04 and 06 as the next 2 followed by 07 and then 05 which I thought was the worst and almost ended up being my last.
I can avoid any bands I don't like, so generally i would disregard anyone I don't care to see, but Metallica is not cool. It's like Superfly thought about the criticism of commercialization, and decided to go for the worse case possible. The band famous for suing it's own fans is headlining?! Superfly can only go more against the spirit of the festival by announcing food will be cheap b/c they're importing slave labor for concessions. Otherwise, it's underwhelming. I can only justify the ticket price by the general atmosphere of Roo, completely independent of the music schedule--and i wonder about the crowd this lineup will draw.
wow, i'm amazed at how negative my reaction is. on the other hand, i wouldn't mind dropping in on a pearl jam song or two, and i've been listening to a lot of Iron & Wine. i'll be waiting for the additions.
The line-up makes me sad after 6 years of roo I'm not going. Glad to see people are still going keep the roo vibe alive for others see you at All Good.
