Just saw that these two are on tour together and while Rock has nothing scheduled between April and late August, Dickey doesn't begin his summer tour until June 14 in VA. That leaves Friday wide open.
I know some people may not like what Kid Rock may bring to the festival, but his appreciation for the greats can't be denied. It'd be cool to see them separately, but I think a collaboration would be outstanding. Thoughts?
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.
Anybody who comes from an upper middle class Michigan background and feigns being a white trash southern hillbilly deserves to get his ass kicked at the Waffle House...

a few summers ago, i went to a sparsely attended dickey betts & great southern concert. it was one of the greatest shows i've ever been to- just plain awesome. betts brought it.

Besides the fake "Redneck rough guy" act he portrays, i've seen him twice live, and that guy puts one hell of a show on...He plays every instrument on stage, and the show is really intense. His new album is pretty good to. Not going to Roo based on one act is pretty pathetic...especially if your favorite band was playing.

Under normal circumstances, the "showman" Kid Rock isn't exactly the right Bonnaroo vibe, but he could pull off a 75 minute set of acoustic, blues & country songs, especially with a few of the many Nashville & country guests that he's played with before.
He does put on a very high-energy show, though. Which you can rock out to... or if you don't care for him, sit back and compare to Spinal Tap.

If he came to Roo, which he won't imo, he wouldn't play a country set BECAUSE:
A) Most of the people that might appeal to won't be at a Kid Rock set. They'll be at, oh, I don't know, say...Willie Nelson?
B) People who will go to Kid Rock would be massively pissed that he's playing country tunes instead of rocking out.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Kid Rock show up as a guest. Did anyone ever listen to the Phish / Kid Rock version of American Band? I think he just showed up at some Phish show and came out and sang with the band.
