Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I didn't read the whole thread, so I don't know if anone mentioned this but...if they're really playing the Master of Puppets album from start to finish on this tour (as Lars said they would about a year ago when talking about the next tour) I will SO be there....probably at Bonnaroo and in New York....
First off, I thought this was just a rumor, and one that got killed pretty quick.
Secondly, I don't think they fit at Roo.
Thirdly, everything pre-Black Album was amazing. I've seen them twice, back in the day, and I can tell you they certainly DONT suck live. And Justice For All is a freakin' opus. If you play an instrument, just look at the damn music. It's crazy and takes some serious talent to perform.
Forthly( ???), I'd love to see them if they'd stick to the old sh#t. But as I said above, I agree that they probably aren't the best fit for the Farm.
Considering all the Widespread Panic as a headliner hate on this board, Would you rather have Metallica or WSP as a headliner?
well, if panic headlined....again....then i would just chill out in my campsite and mingle with people. kind of like last year.
if metallica headlined, i'd go see the show. i think it would be odd at 'roo, but they put on a decent performance. they are know, at least in the early years, for writing some long ass songs.
i suppose i would get along with bonnaroo metallica fans more than metallica metallica fans. if that makes any sense.
well, if metallica does play - there will be lots of pyro.
and that's always good?
Not according to fans of Great White.
thats harsh dude. the station (nightclub) was about a 5 minute drive from where i grew up. the place used to be an italian restaurant. it was never really converted into a proper club, but became one anyway...
i have a feeling that metallica really is playing, so we all better go ahead and accept it. personally, i love metallica, and i owe them a lot for being one of those bands that really made me care about music...no, i do not think Bonnaroo is the right place for them to play (i really can not picture Hetfield up there saying "alright Bonnaroo, you ready for some 'tallica, baby?!?!"), but i will still be there. i will watch them, i will bang my head, and i will have a really good time.
Had the year been 1988 and not 2008, I think alot of us would love to have Metallica. However bands progress and release lackluster albums (Load, Reload, and St. Anger) and have their image changed in a negative way. I would attest that a bunch of people (including me) like Metallica, but just does not see a band like Metallica at Bonnaroo.

You guys act like Metallica doesn't know St. Anger sucked. I think at bonnaroo we may get all of Master of Puppets, they did it in germany, and a good amount of new stuff, which is produced by Rick Rubin, not Bob Rock, and they're going back to their old way of recording, and making the songs longer again with more solos. I think the new album sounds really promising, and Metallica has realized they've gone downhill starting with the black album, and want to return to form.
i would love 'tallica to be there, and them put on something like mexico city(live shit: binge and purge)....long bass n guitar solos, extended "seek and destroy" with crowd involvement, and what cant you love about 80,000 people chanting (DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!......).
plus i would love to see kirk hammett in the superjam

i have never heard of WSP prior to getting interested in bonnaroo, i dont know any of their songs, and i only know jimmy herring is involved with them based on the clues thread.
i have several metallica albums including ride the lighting and master of puppets, probably load and reload as well. i listened to metallica like they were the be all end all of music for awhile.
id rather see widespread panic headline bonnaroo08
however at this point i realize i dont have a choice who headlines any of the nights or who shows up at all, other than myself and im going to be there regardless of who else is.
last edit: i say this because im going to bonnaroo to see new music, new artists and get interested in things i havent seen/heard before. the idea of zeppelin/metallica just ruins that whole plan because i know zep, i know metallica. i want new new new

I'm afraid the headliners aren't going to be unknown bands....
