Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I don't wanna step on any Metallca fans' toes. But I don't think they're right for Roo. If they are headlining, I'm sure as hell skipping it, and I feel like most other Roo people would too. I don't even see a point in them headlining, because I don't think they'd fill up half of the What Stage arena. JMO

If it does happen (which I sadly think is possible), I will not be at their set. I will likely use that time to get drunk and find a good spot for whatever it is I'm watching latenight (RRFB!!!!! please!!!)

I wouldn't want Metallica at Roo either but it was fun as hell looking at some of those hippie faces after Tool walked off the stage this past year. I just remember seeing some people standing their with their jaws dropped wondering what they hell just hit them.

I just hope they wouldn't be headlining. Give me an option to check out something else when they're playing. Kind of like last year lucking into the FLips "sound check"!
I hear the complete opposite about Metallica live. I havent seen them, but everyone I know who has is blown away by them.
And theres no way Metallica wouldn't be headlining. They sell out Stadiums with more people than what Bonnaroo generally has, with just 4 or 5 other supporting bands.

Maybe an S&M show. That'd be a little more bonnaroo like. Their new album sounds sweet, and Metallica is sweet, and i only hear good things about their show. I say bring Metallica and screw everyone who doesn't like it! A new song, who knows if it will be on the album. I like how they both play Les Pauls now.

Ideally, I wouldn't be thrilled about Metallica being there. I don't think their latter-day stuff is any good, but I'd probably go watch them anyway because they are good musicians and probably do put on an entertaining show. And while I'd be disappointed that they are on the bill, it is just one band, so it wouldn't matter much.
HOWEVER, in reality why I feel strongly about Metallica not belonging at Bonnaroo is their average fan. It's true that headliners do bring a portion of their own flock to Bonnaroo with them, and I truly think it would be borderline dangerous to have them there. They hate hippies, hippies dislike them, it's a raging party at night, just not a good formula. I'm not saying that Metallica=riot or anything so presumptuously outlandish-- I'm not sure any band could singlehandedly do that. But I do think that such a clash would be unhealthy and would have the potential to ruin the weekend.

If Metallica play the Which Stage on Saturday afternoon, I have no problem with it. If Metallica takes up a 3-4 hour headlining slot (which would obviously be the case), during which all the other major stages/tents shut down, I have a problem with it.
I know that there's lots of stuff to do at Bonnaroo, and believe me, I love doing all of it. But that is a huge gap of time, and one of the more picturesque times of day (sun has just set, dusk is settling in, the temp is perfect, lots of energy). Bottom line, that's the time of day when I wanna rock out to some music and feel that vibe when there are 80,000 people jamming right next to you. Metallica does not provide this.

Just as Radiohead didn't 'kill' Roo, just as Tool didn't 'kill' Roo, just as any band who has ever played who people got pissed about didn't 'kill' Bonnaroo, Metallica will not kill Bonnaroo.
except Radiohead and Tool were relavent bands with similar fans. Metallica will bring in people looking to start moshpits, not to mention, as i said, they simply arent good musicians anymore, if they ever were. Just really sloppy, especially Lars. Hes awful.

Metallica killed the touring Lollapalooza because it attracts a crowd element that is not there for anyone but Metallica.
If Metallica were to play Bonnaroo, I'd prefer it to happen after Bonnaroo adopts the Glastonbury process of announcing the lineup after the festival is sold out.
Bonnaroo is Bonnaroo is Bonnaroo and it would be great to see anyone play when you're joined by 80,000 people who are there because it is Bonnaroo and not for one particular band.
