yeah i concur, they are one of my favorite bands. But i did see them at Roo in 05 and they were good but did sort of seem like they phoned it in and they didn't really play many older songs. Good news is that I did see them again in 07 with Man Man and they were outstanding, they definetely redeemed themselves in my eyes and them some. It was one of the best shows that i saw all last year. I would love to see them again.
I love Modest Mouse, I saw them 2 times last year and was somewhat disappointed with the set list, but it was a great show. They sound better live I think. Especially Tiny Cities Made of Ashes.
They should have a set of mainly old stuff with new stuff mixed in for Roo.
LIKE The Fruit That Ate Itself. I love that song, and its probably the song I've been wanting to see live the most..
Modest Mouse is one of my favorite bands. Got into them around 2000, so I'm definitely more a fan of their older material, but I'll say that even on the last two albums there have been some really great songs that stand up to anything they've done before. Some songs make me scratch my head though..yeah, I'm looking at you, "Fire It Up" and "Missed the Boat." They were good, not great at Roo '05. Personally, I'd like to see them in a latenite slot where they could play deep into their catalog. I'm all for having them back on the farm this year in any capacity, really.

I love Modest Mouse, but I love their latest two albums just as much as their older stuff. I think they're one of the best bands out right now, and I'd rather hear more of them on the radio. Just some other songs than what I hear 40 times in one day
A late night Modest Mouse, would be the show of the year for me. I would be so moved if I could hear a lot more of their older stuff, especially at my first (and would be most memorable) 'Roo.
Side note...I heard from a co-worker that Modest Mouse might be touring with R.E.M. this year- The National as well. Few things are quite as awesome in their potential as a bill of R.E.M./Modest Mouse/The National....
Holy shite! I'd pay a decent buck to see that bill. Hopefully R.E.M. brings that tour to Texas (Houston or Dallas) instead of using the SXSW date as their Texas stop..
I think Isaac was had some major drug problems the time they played Roo, though i might be wrong about this and i don't want to start a rumor about someone having drug problem.

First off, I'm a big Modest Mouse fan. I have seen them twice now, both on there latest tour. First in B'ham, AL and they seemed a bit lethargic. Especially after having Man Man open for them (who was nuts by the way!). Then I saw them again at the Ryman in Nashville and it was probably the greatest show I have ever been to (maybe behind Radiohead at 'Roo). Issac was in a good mood, Johnny Marr looked like a Rock Star, it was GREAT. So don't give up on Modest Mouse yet, if you catch them at the right show it more than makes up for any subpar ones.
