here are some things i found that happened in music in 1968. so this being the 40th anniversary of some big things, i wonder if that increases the chances for any of these people at bonnaroo? probably not, but last year they did show monterey pop in the cinema tent for its 40th, maybe they'll do something special and try to get a couple of these names:
Led Zeppelin performs for the first time-obviously they are a rumor for Bonnaroo this year
Cream farewell concert at Royal Albert Hall-Clapton and Winwood playing at MSG in NY in early 2008, with BB King already playing, I'd bet on some form of Clapton in 2008
Recording for Beatles White Album begins-Paul McCartney would possibly be the greatest music legend they could ever get, they've had Dylan and he's probably #2, however, Paul at Bonnaroo, not in a million years
The Band's career begins-Levon Helm recently came out with a great album
David Gilmour joins Pink Floyd-a full out Pink Floyd reunion probably won't happen outside London
Rush forms in Toronto-seemed like a rumor early, until their schedule was released it now seems unlikely
Buffalo Springfield play for the last time-probably won't ever happen again
Yarbirds play for the last time-probably won't ever happen again
Yes performs for the first time-could possibly fit the mold for a Sunday headliner
James Taylor's career begins-doesn't seem like a fit for Bonnaroo
Joni Mitchell's career begins-I don't think she ever really played a whole lot of live shows, but came out with a pretty good album in the past year
Overall, Simon and Garfunkel had a great year in 1968-while they both have basically been playing solo for awhile, I've heard that Simon wants to get back together with Garfunkel
"I want you to notice When I'm not around You're so fücking special I wish I was special But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here" -Radiohead

I don't think Paul Simon has any inclination to reunite with Art Garfunkel again. The 2003 reunion tour was only moderately successful, and these days he's doing better as a solo artist.
I saw S&G in 2003 and I saw Paul solo in 2006, and solo was the superior show, and a better fit for Bonnaroo.
