Not one of my personal favorites I would still wouldn't be shocked if they are on the line up. Honestly I see Death Cab or Modest Mouse , one of the two to be there.

this is a band i had seen live on several occasions prior to transatlanticisim (or whatever the hell its called) and really enjoyed. pretty much since then i could not care less. not being a d*ck...i have just lost interest completely.
I really like their live show, and it would be possible for them to return since their new album is out. However, I would definitely prefer to see them later in the day....just a better vibe for their show.

I go through phases with deathcab where I'll listen to them a lot or not at all but I do really like them. I was actually disapointed with the roo performance in 06, it was the first time I had seem them live other than hearing them over another band at lollapalooza. It could have been that I was pretty far back from the stage...but deathcab (to me anyway) is a band that provokes emotion and a certain mood (which is not always the happy go lucky feeling I like to have at roo) that was hard to find in a sea of people, during the day at roo...same thing I felt with bright eyes in 06 and damien rice and regina spektor this year. I enjoy those artists but they have an odd way of fitting in..or rather not fitting in at bonnaroo. Prehaps if these types of artists were in a tent and not on an oustide stage you could regain a little of that intimacy that is lost... just a thought!

I'm a big fan of Death Cab, though Plans was a tad fluffy for my tastes. It still had some great songs though.
According to a report I read about their new album, it's going to be influenced by "sludge metal" and "synth-punk", with a spacier sound. Should be pretty interesting to hear. Sounds like something that would be suitable for a late night set. '

Chris Walla, the guitarist, has a solo album coming out some time next year too I think, He had some problems with homeland security where they actually took the album from him when he was crossing back into the states with Death Cab because a lot of the lyrics are very political. So I dont know if that will push his release date back further, but he said he still had his master copy at home.
I wouldn't mind seeing him do a solo set at bonnaroo. Maybe back to back with Death Cab, and then the Postal Service could play. That would be awesome.

i listened to the PLANS album about 10 times on a road trip once, the drive back was an unexpected early return due to a friends dad who had a heart attack... and it made a lot of sense then and still does now...
The album is all about exactly what the title says, Plans. You make plans in life and they don't always work out. I was on a trip to see 2 Keller Williams shows in a row with my then ex-gf, her roomate and my friend walks into our room at 4am and says her dad had a heart attack, we hop in the car and drive 6 hours home... the song "what sarah said" hit me hard, here's why...
"And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time, As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409, And I rationed my breathes as I said to myself that I'd already taken too much today, As each descending peak of the LCD took you a little farther away from me
Amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye, It stung like a violent wind that out memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds, But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all, And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself
'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room, Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news, And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads, But I'm thinking of what Sarah said that 'Love is watching someone die'"
every one of those words rang true in my head...
but if you look at other songs on that album, "Different Names for the same thing"... this person thought they knew where their life was headed, what now?
"Alone on a train aimless in wonder An outdated map crumbled in my pocket But I didn't care where I was going They're all different names for the same place." and another song about finding a good girl but knowing she's not right for you but telling her that she'll find someone better someday, "someday you will be loved"...
"You may feel alone when you're falling asleep And everytime tears roll down your cheeks But I know your heart belongs to someone you've yet to meet Someday you will be loved
You'll be loved you'll be loved Like you never have known The memories of me Will seem more like bad dreams Just a series of blurs Like I never occurred Someday you will be loved"
in my opinion it was one of the best albums of 2005.

I feel like I was too general in talking about "Plans", I do think it's a great album. Hearing Passenger Seat segue into Different Names For The Same Thing was one of my favorite moments of Bonnaroo '06. I Will Follow You Into The Dark is one of those songs that will never leave me, it's engrained into my being. And I love Crooked Teeth.
I just prefer Transatlanticism. I think it works better as a whole album.
well, you ask me why i'm drunk all the time it levels my head and eases my mind i just walk along and stroll and sing i see better days and i do better things
I went to the Nashville solo show, and... meh. Didn't work. Wrong venue (too big), wrong audience (too chatty and loud). He was rightfully pissed and let the crowd know. But it was his fault too -- if the audience isn't responding to soft, slow, and sentimental, change it up...
i saw death cab during a tour a few years ago, but missed them at roo, but never heard the end of it from my friend. Personally I'd also rather see the postal service.

plans is really the only dcfc album i have listened to and it is creepy the lyrics some of the songs on there, i like it. one of my favorites I Will Follow You into the Dark - "Love of mine, someday you will die But ill be close behind and ill follow you into the dark"

I too would love to see the postal service...I could be wrong but does The Postal Service tour aren't they more of a studio creation? They just have the one album and a bunch of spin off EP's from that album. Plus Rilo Kiley just released a new album (which is awesome by the way) so Jenny Lewis is touring with them I believe? Has anyone seen The Postal Service live?
