Apparently this is gonna happen, and if Roo does the reunion Police type thing again, I would put this equal to, if not even bigger news than the Police announcement was last year
One thing... this is NOT the original lineup with Eddie's KID taking Mike Anthony's place (barf)
I guess it would be fun to rock out to the old songs with Dave, but then again, I really wish this wasn't happening... they are just gonna tarnish their already tarnished image a whole lot more, I think... but here it is-----

i was at the "reunion show" with Hagar in 2004, the very first show on that tour in greensboro. it was awesome!! i loved it! the love for eddie van halen that night was so powerful. however, i thought they would stay back together and that didn't happen. those guys were hating each other again by the end of the tour. but now its about time they made up with Diamond Dave. he is a great performer even if he is crazy. i will see them if they go on tour. but.. i'm also not down with dissing micheal anthony. wolfgang better be good.
having said all that.... bonnaroo would never book this band

I had tickets to the exact same show, but at the last minute I wasn't able to go. Glad to hear it was a great show!!!

Why?
*edit* I don't think they should play Roo, but why do you think Superfly wouldn't be interested in a band that... a) has a fanbase ranging in age from 16-66 (at least) and b) would help sell a lot of tickets
I hope VH has a reunion, however I sort of hope they wouldn't have a show at Roo. I like VH, don't get me wrong, and would go see them, but I think booking them at Bonnaroo as a headliner might be more problematic than anything else.
VH just like The Police have a large following of fans. Many of them are older, but there is that younger generation like my 16 year old brother and the 10 year old kids I babysit for that also worship Eddie and crew. I just think the diversity among the fans would probably pose security and safety issues because you would have so many different types of people sharing space in 80 degree weather. Not only that, I am sure the number of people that would buy tickets JUST to come to see VH and not stay for the whole festival would be fairly substantial, and how would that play out with the other bands?
Just thoughts, I would love to see VH regardless and would still go to Roo if they headlined, but I can just imagine how different it would be.
I hope nobody takes this the wrong way or get offended by this but, VH absolutely, without a doubt, is my least favorite "rock" band of all time. I think I hate them. Wait, no, I know I hate them. I mean, they are talented musicians and all, they're just talented musicians that make terrible music, IMHO, of course
I vote no because they suck. I saw them open for the rolling Stones in 1981. They sucked then. I really developed an intense dislike for David Lee Roth. He spent more time talking about how f$#ed he was than singing off key. What little ability and talent he had then has been damaged by old age and physical abuse. Eddie has damaged any credibility he had with his soap opera of alcohol abuse and constantly changing singers and by screwing over Michael Anthony.
Van Halen would be a terrible pick for Bonnaroo.
I'm not usually this negative but I just have to say no to Van Halen
If VH and Incubus were headlining, then yes, I would stay far far away from the farm next year. Just one of them and I could deal, possibly. I'm probably not going next year anyway, due to a wedding that I will be attending.

I gotta side w/ Danbird on this one. As much as I have been defending the direction Bonnaroo is heading in, I must say I don't want it to turn into a clearing house for each year's lame "classic rock" reunion. It just seems like Bonnaroo could do so much better than a VH reunion. I'd take Incubus any day over VH, and I really don't like Incubus. The whole VH thing just stinks of "Washed up and broke." Bonnaroo could do soooooo much better. Roo shouldn't turn into VH1's "Where are they now?"
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

if Van Halen, The Dixie Chicks, and The Spice Girls Reunion headlined next year, I would still attend. I would just be getting extremely drunk in my campsite from 8-12 instead of in Centeroo

doesn't make a difference, Van Halen will not play at Bonnaroo, just like Aerosmith will not play at Bonnaroo, just like the Rolling Stones will not play at Bonnaroo, just like the Eagles will not play at Bonnaroo.
One huge band that I think might play would be U2, which is the least offensive of the above mentioned bands. I am not a fan myself, I could see it happening.
There are some things that should be obvious about roo, like if WSP plays they headline, if the Dead play they headline, and if Van Halen plays they headline the first ever Bonnaroo in hell.

i'm surprised by some of the hatred for VH. maybe its an age thing. i dunno. but when i was a teenager, Van Halen and The Police were two of the biggest bands in the world. and i have loved them since then. if VH was at bonnaroo, that would be awesome. but i don't think they will be. VH wants to control their environment more than roo would allow. and they will make more money without hitting any festivals. plus, a short tour is likely given DLR's unpredictability.
someone mentioned U2... i think they are more likely than VH

btw, i love me some Dixie Chicks!!
Thank you. Finally someone with some sense.
Watch out admitting you like certain music around here...the smiters have been hitting me since I admitted I like bands they deem unlistenable.
I have a sentimental attachment to VH because I was an 80's kid. I mean come on, back in the day they were the sh*t!
but years of Eddie's ego and rampant alcohol abuse has brought them down to the level of a nostalgia act. I mean geez, they drove off Micheal Anthony. What levels of irritation could it possibly take to piss off Micheal Anthony?
Eddie was the happy go lucky guitar god now he's kind of an ass.
