I was wondering which bands/artists drew the smallest audiences. I went to 23 shows, and the smallest crowd I saw was at T-Bone Burnett, it didn't even fill up the Other Tent.
As far at stages go, I think Ziggy Marley had a pretty small crowd at the What Stage. Franz Ferdinand definitely didn't exactly fill up Which Stage, but they had a pretty decent crowd.
The smallest one that I saw was Charlie Louvin on Sunday, That Tent. We slept in the tent, in the shade, to recover from the craziness that was the night before.
Honestly, there were maybe 50 people there about 10 minutes into the set. We left to see the rest of JBT and Wolfmother.
This man came up to me just the other day, asked me I'd been born again. I told him, "I didn't think I had." That I had been rejected. But I think, Hell's got all the good bands anyway. And Bonnaroo.

Smallest tent crowd I saw was Elvis Perkins in Dearland. Me and my 5 friends had room to sit under the tent and take a nap during the nice relaxing music coming from the stage.
its funny how things change, i saw the police at a college, there might have been 200 people ... then they went big ... at the roo, of course maybe 70k, so things change for sure ... cr****

Not sure if this counts, but several Somethin' Else acts had small crowds. There were certainly no more than 50 people present at Don Byron's early show on Sunday. Same with Stefon Harris.
Of all years, definitely the smallest crowd I experienced was at Dr. Dog in '05. I arrived about 20 minutes into their set (having divided my time with Matisyahu), and there were spaces up front next to the fence. Tiny, tiny group of people there, but I know those who were just ate up every minute, as did the band.
i had a friend tell me to go check out david bromberg cus shes good friends w/ him... so i caught the beginning of his show... and i dont remember there being alot of ppl there. ???
smallest crowd that I saw overall....Jonah Smith at the Sonic Stage (It's sad too, because everyone around me was there for Warren....as was I)
smallest tent show...unfortunately, Ornette Coleman. I got there right at 6:30 and was able to get on the rail, not center, but slightly off to the right of center.

Ulmer's show had the smallest crowd of any of the few shows that I saw but, It was a GREAT set! If you missed it, you missed some of the maddest funk of the festival! It tickled my groove-thing plaid! (then it bought me ice cream)
Elvis Perkins in Dearland probably had the smallest tent show I saw. You easily could have made it to the very front and people were sitting everywhere with huge empty spots. Sad because he was really good, but Wolfmother was putting on a rocking show at the same time. I think if Rocco Deluca was in one of the main tents instead of the Troo Music Lounge, he would have had more people there than Elvis Perkins did. For the number of people there to see him, he was inappropriately placed, but for the type of show, it was cool to see.

I think what you might mean is Bob Weir and Ratdog took all the hippies away at the time... ;D

I think the smallest crowds can be found in the tents on Sunday. From what I've noticed, many people just pack up and leave, and the majority of the folks that are still there go to the bigger shows (i.e White Stripes). Seems like a waste to me though. I don't see why you wouldn't mind not getting your ticket's worth of concerts. But some people have real reasons to leave, such as work.

well the reason we usually leave early is because the drive is just so long, and it goes thru the evening - so we usually have no choice...

I thought of this set when I read the thread topic. Good set but the early morning Sunday sets are usually small.
Tin Cup Prophets... Poor souls were in the Troo and playing opposite Flaming Lips. Half the people at the Troo were sitting just outside and had turned their seats to watch the Lips as best they could from the outside of the Troo. TCP had maybe, at most, fifteen people actually watching their show. At points Lips was so loud they were clearer than TCP even right at the edge of the Troo.
Had to give them props for being in such a suck-ass situation and still playing pretty well and keeping a good sense of humor about it (at least for appearances sake). I felt bad for them. It was harsh.
But I've heard voices not in the head Out in the air they called ahead Through ripped out speakers Through thick and thin They found a shelter Under my skin -Evgeny Aleksandrovitch Nikolaev
Ornette Coleman had a really small crowd, so did Fountains of Wayne (as predicted in an inforoo poll, btw). I was waiting for Ween and I was sitting comfortably like 20 or so feet from the rail.

I found the vibe to be very relaxing at that show,I came over there from wolfmother, I mean it was so freaking hot, I laid on the ground ,and stretched my legs for about 30 or forty minutes before heading over to Ratdog.

I would also have to say that Jescoe had a small crowd in the Troo Music Lounge on friday, I showed up for the last ten minutes, and got a chair front and center, great funky music, then after their set, I got a free CD of theirs, that was quite the little ten minute rest before going to see Manu Chao.
