Toolshed.down is not the official site, but is usually spot on when it comes to Tool news. Anyway they posted this. I will lose my head if this happens.
Also, for those of you keeping up with all things Bonnaroo -- John Paul Jones, arguably most well-known as the bassist for Led Zeppelin, will be part of the foundation for this year's so-called "SuperJam", scheduled for Friday (June 15th) at midnight. Here's hoping he joins Tool on-stage during their set for a once-in-a-lifetime performance of "No Quarter." §
its awesome that john paul jones is gonna be there. they definately kicked the festival up a notch. seriously when do you ever hear of john paul jones playing?

Dude that is great news that the newsletter brought that up, usually the newsletter hints at what is going to happen at upcoming shows. Also, hopefully the announcement of John Paul Jones prooves to Tool that Bonnaroo is a lot bigger and influential than most other US festivals. I really hope we have a special show from the boys, and hopefully Superfly convinced them to give the roo crowd the best show they can possibly put together.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

let us not forget that The Flaming Lips have a cover of NO QUARTER on their album At War with the Mystics
they do? not on my copy.
Not on my copy either, but they do cover Thank You on Finally the Punk Rockers are Taking Acid (originally from their live DVD Black Easter, and I think it's also in The Fearless Freaks, not 100% sure on that though)
It'd be cool if JPJ sat in with Tool, but I really don't see it happening. I mean, has anyone ever sat in with tool?
yea, scott reeder from kyuss, buzz from the melvins, lots of guest drummers, tricky. basically every band they have toured with since lateralus. actually justin also sat in with tool while paul was still in the band, i had it on video.

I could see maynard coming out for superjam maybe more than JPJ coming out for tool. Whatever the case is though, I hope it happens, because that song is amazing.
And I dont know what you are talking about concerning the Flaming Lips covering that song... Unless it was on the 5.1 cd that was released.
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio." -Hunter S. Thompson
i think this has to be done at the tool show because it would really get that feeling of the song when at superjam i just dont seeing them putting it together as well as tool... This is gonna be amazing, i cant believe its gonna be a week from today.
Both times that I've seen Tool, theyve had a special guest during one song. Tuesday, it was the drummer for Melt Banana, in 02, it was Mike Patton...I know Monday the drummer for Mastodon came out during Lateralus. Having guest appearences is actually pretty common for a tool set.

Track #33 - Unmade Bed/ no Quarter...."Also featured are eight tracks from various live radio sessions, one of which is a blend of Sonic Youth's "Unmade Bed" and Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter."(read the rest of the article here billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003121648)

The last time I can remember was at an MTV Music Awards when he played with Lenny Kravitz.

It's Bonnaroo ... Anything can happen.
For example, Maynard has been known to do guest spots with Rage Against the Machine and the Deftones when they were sharing a bill on any given festival. He has guest vocal spots for each band ("Know Your Enemy" and "Passenger", respectively), so he'd show up for that song.
They haven't played No Quarter since before Lateralus was released, IIRC, but like I said ... anything is possible. Tool covered No Quarter both during concerts and on Salival (originally recorded for Enconium during the Aenima sessions) and Maynard did vocals on a Jane's Addiction cover of Kashmir during the last stop of Lollapalooza when Jane's Addition and A Perfect Circle were headlining it.
Maynard is obviously a Zeppelin fan. I imagine the rest of the band is, as well. With John Paul Jones on-site, a collaboration only makes sense, IMO.
I mean, has anyone ever sat in with tool?
It's been pretty common for the last ten years. Justin even did a song or two when his band (Peach) was opening for Tool while Paul was still in the band.

All this talk of Rage and Jane's makes me pray that Perry Farrell will find a way to hop back and forth from London to play with the Nightwatchmen. How fun would that be to see Tom Morello, JPJ, Perry Farrell, and Maynard together...LOL...Fun to dream...Now back to reality.

i bet morello will have some guests that are not on the bonnaroo lineup.
