It's a very small outdoor stage in the Sonic Village where you can see short sets, acoustic performances, artist side-projects, interviews, etc. You can see some cool stuff there, but I would reccomend getting there early if you really want to see somebody. I wanted to see the Les Claypool interview so I got there right before it started, but I was stuck in the back and could barely see him. Luckily I got a good spot for Bisco some later time during the festival.
All-in-all it's pretty cool. Nice and intimate....
moe's acoustic set there was a highlight of the weekend for me. I listen to that recording all the time. I will definitely spend some time there over the weekend...
I plan on hanging there just about all afternoon on saturday. Warren Interview, Warren acoustic, Jorma, then NMAS acoustic......hopefully i'll be halway to the stage by the time the Allstars play. Last year I saw blues Traveler and Gomez there.........very packed though.
Whenever I saw a band at the sonic stage, it was because I was just wandering by. It was pretty sweet though, I managed to see Buddy Guy and Devendra Banhart. In conclusion, the sonic stage is great.
