I'm very new to Clutch; I DLed their new album and have listened through it twice. While I'm digging it, I was surprised that it wasn't what I expected to hear. Does "Beale Street..." have a different sound than their other albums, or is that their typical style? Futhermore it struck me recently that the style seemed very familiar, and finally it occurred to me that several of their songs have a very similar sound to Robert Randolph & The Family Band. Anyone else think this? The heavy rhythm, wailing guitars and organs, and particularly the vocals on a song like "Electric Worry" (great song!) are very reminiscent to a RR song like "Ain't Nothing Wrong with That". This isn't a bad thing at all, I'm just curious if other people, especially the hardcore Clutch fans, hear this as well.

it's not an entirely new sound for them, they have went more and more in this direction over the last 3 albums. before that every clutch album was different than the previous. i don't get the robert randolp thing. i get more of an old black bues sound and then the classic rock bands of the late 60's and 70's that played that type of music.
