I am without a doubt very upset of the tea Leaf Green and rod Y gab overlap but i don't know much about the earlier acts playing thursday. Could anyone help me with what type of music and what they are about or a link to check out a few tunes. i know about the black angels and clutch but ahvnet heard anything. thanks to any and all who reply. I love you guys.
Mute Math was incredible last year at Lollapalooza. A lot of people were stopping to check them out. The bad thing is that they're up against The National and Langhorne Slim, an interesting singer-songwriter. I'm trying to find some more bands to get into from Thursday as well. Good thread.
Stanton Moore Trio is wonderful. A funky jazz type, stemming from New Orleans and Stanton's involvement in Galactic. They are really a catch on Thurs. night, but it conflicts with The Black Angels.
Definetly Stanton Moore Trio. Charlie Hunter plays in the trio, and Charlie Hunter is considered the "Jimi Hendrix" of jazz guitar. While I think Jon McLaughlin holds that distinction, Charlie Hunter is fairly badass.
this is one place for sure you'll find me thursday. the rest of thursday will be me roaming around to just listen to music (it's how I found Devotchka last year)
i'm going to start it off with lewis back, then you can find me in this tent, check out black angels and definitely there for mute math and clutch. really glad that those 2 don't conflict. would like to see some of stanton moore but i probably won't get to. maybe catch rod y gab at the end if they are still playing.

No Charlie Hunter in ST3... Will Bernard (who played with Charlie in TJ Kirk) is on guitar. ST3 is definitely gonna be hot though!
I swear I read on the B'roo site that Charlie Hunter will be in the trio, but it is more than likely that it is what you said and I just read it wrong.

I think Thurs. is going to be a real chill night. I really really only want to catch Tea Leaf Green fo sho, so I'll prolly meander from different stages/tents in the mean time and just chillax. Ok, I'm probably going to be too freaking excited to be chill and relaxed on Thurs but Im going to try.

Mute Maths's set last year was choice. There was one of those moments where the song ended and there was a second of silence before the crowd erupted (after the song, "Reset"). Apollo Sunshine is a great live band too, much fun!
last years thursday was awesome. matt costa, devotchka, toubab krewe. this year looks equally as good. rodrigo y gabriela, ryan shaw, stanton moore trio, apollo sunshine
For me, on Thursday I'm going to try to check Black Angels, Apollo Sunshine, The National, and Rodrigo Y Gabriela. Definately, though, do everything in your power to catch The Black Angels... I'm so happy, because I think I may get to Roo in time to catch them!
The Black Angels are going to be one of the most talked about shows of the weekend. I'm calling it.
Ryan Shaw > Black Angels > The National > David Cross at least that's the tentative plan. I might end up seeing David Cross late night Friday instead and catching Lonnie Smith...
Yeah Cross on Thursday is a must for me. I'm really happy the Annuals didn't wind up being on Thursday like they were originally reported to be. Makes my night much easier.
I suggest checking out Dubconcious. The album Realization has gotten some heavy rotation for me. It's a nice Jammy Reggae set, really good way to get the vibes up for the weekend to come.
I've seen apollo sunhine a few times in 2006 but they've been thouring else where for a while. I thought they were dope when i saw them last year, and i can imagine they learned a thing or two on tour. Rock.
