I don't know why in the hell I'm just starting to listen to Manu Chao, but he's now one of the sets I'm most looking forward to at Roo. I'm listening to Radio Bemba.. a live album, and right now, I can picture myself at Roo (helps to have good speakers! ha)...
His combo of Spanish, French, Reggae, Punk, Salsa, Merengue, Ska, etc, is absolutely BRILLIANT!! His sound is huge, and I can see it being one of the most fun sets of the weekend. If you're listening to him play and can sit still.... you've got issues. Party music at it's best.
Can't wait to dance my ass off for the whole set! Figure it's going to be a bit of a warm up for STS9!
i guess i have issues.. i watched him for a couple min at coachella and had to walk away.. definalty in for the philadelphia experiment though. ?uestlove is amazing.
Can't wait to see Q at the Roo. He is one bad ass drummer.
TypeO... I can see Manu not being an act that everyone wants to see. I'm a punk/ska/reggae musician, and have always loved horns, claps, and an overall high energy live show (like Manu Chao). Some people are more jam oriented, some like harder stuff...
That live album is ridiculously contagious in the fun and energy department. I hope the crowd takes Manu and Radio Bemba in with open arms!
Yeah I'm really shocked there hasn't been more love for Manu Chao, they're going to surprise a lot of people at Roo. I've see all the schedule predicitions but I'm still holding out hope for a late night Manu Chao show, talk about a dance party....
