That would be uber-interesting to see. As a drummer myself, I think that ?uest is fantastic...But I have yet to really hear him "Jam" in a traditional sense...
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
i bet we get phil at teh super jam with warren, molitz, herring, ?uest<3,
debut the new phil and phriends lineup.. either that or phil will be playing with gov't mule
As much as I would LOVE to see Phil at the Roo this year, there is ZERO chance he will be there. First off, he and Bobby have some kind of BS issue right now, and I really doubt Phil would show up with Bobby already in the lineup. Phil didn't even sit with Mickey and Billy at the Grammys when the GD got an award earlier this year. Second, for a while it was posted that Mountain Jam would be Phil's only festival appearance of the summer. It's now changed to the only "northeast" festival appearance, but I still don't think there is any chance of seeing Phil at the Roo.

I beg to differ about Phil not being at Roo. I don't think SuperJam will involve Phil but I do see him guested at Mule. SuperJam is probably either going to be ?uestLove and Ornette and other or the Word.

I'm not sure why people are so certain that Ornette will be making rounds, playing with other artists, jamming, or even having any part in something funk or rock related. It's not really his thing. Sure he did some great, heady jazz-funk stuff in the 70's, but he hasn't really gone back to that style since. Just saying, don't get your hopes up to see him up with any of the jambands. He's not Herbie.

i think the facts that phil made a date to be back, hes playing mountain jam with mule, and warren says the show at roo is going to be "special" it all makes sense to me. and i think the booby and phil thing is overblown. i was under the impression that pohil went to his sons graduation instead of playing yet another awards show. i for one would have done the same. and bobby is playing 2 fests with dso this summer. something i didnt think his greed would allow i think phil will play with mule. maybe the new phil and friends as superjam. or keller williams incident. or maybe something else who the hell knows!! ;D

I'd love to see them bring in some super cool unannounced guest like they did at the 2nd superjam when Dr. John came strolling out to our delight. Maybe put in a call to Steve Winwood and pair him up with questlove on drums, Nels Cline on guitar, Schools on bass and maybe even Medeski. As much as I love Phil & Friends, GRAB, etc - I really want the superjam to be one of a kind again, not just a bunch of folks that we've seen jam in similar circles for years now. Heck for that matter, pull Schools and Medeski off my wish-list and insert someone new and interesting from any of the dozen bands that may or may not fit what has traditionally been the 'roo mold.

I'm pretty confident in ?uestlove and Robert Randolf.
If they keep up last year's trend (I.E. Similar stuff to GRAB), I wouldn't be shocked to see The Philedalphia Expereriment as the act, since ?uestlove said he was scheduled for a "reunion of mine".
stanton moore has been in the superjam twice, if not three times in past roos. i honestly don't think the superjam will be anything like last year. i'm sure, and hoping, that they revert back to the superjam of bonnaroo 1, 2, and 3 fame - nice funky improv, coupled with a rotating cast of musicians and lots of brass (especially w/ all the brass players added the other day)

I do believe I have figured it out, thanks to sangreal's noticing and posting that North Mississippi Allstars are playing both Saturday and Sunday. This leads me to beleive that North Missippi Allstars will be playing their show on Saturday and the Word will be Sunday's SuperJam. Also, the Philly Experiment will probably play the new Jazz Tent which is sponsored by Blue Note which also happens to be the label that their album came out on. Coincidence, I think not.

i think you may be partially right. about nmas, i think they will play sat. and the word will play sun. but not as the superjam. the superjam will feature ?uestlove and who knows who else.
It sounds like the same artists play the Superjam every year... I know people want to see certain musicians perform, but come on... give it a bit of variety!

That seems to be the overall "bonnaroo argument"...
There are people who want to see the same rad acts every year, or the same type of rad acts, which i totally understand.
Then there are other folks (like you and I) that want to see as many different acts and types of music you can.
I mean, how SICK would it be to have the superjam be something totally different. Throw ?uest on drums, even get Aes and El-P up there to freestyle for a track.
Either way, the one thing that is not up for argument is the fact that, regardless of who is playing it, the superjam is NOT to be missed.
