somebody told me Drea de Matteo was there one year but I can't remember who i heard she was dating at the time.
She was there last year w/Shooter Jennings. I saw him in the crowd during MMJ but by the time I got the rest of my peeps to turn around he had wandered away. I didn't see her, though. I think it was in the Beacon.
Yeah there was a pic posted of her last year on here.....I have no idea where to find it though

Mirrored, the highly anticipated official debut album by Battles already causes quite some discussion on the world wide net. And it is a début album, folks. The reissue of the EP C/B EP by Warp was a good thing to discover those records that were not too easy to find, but it wasn't a full album. Yet, there are already discussions going on between fans, and this is not caused by a complete change of style by the band, but just by the introduction of vocals and maybe by the fact that Mirrored just sounds a little happier and more danceable than Battles' previous work. Still, the unconventionality of the band remains untouched, and I can imagine that people get pretty nervous by the frantic and frenetic music Battles makes. I admit, opening track Race:In isn't the most easy tune to start a record with: the frenzied cymbal drumming, the hectic guitar licks and the whistling and chirpy vocals on top of each other might raise some eyebrows but once John Stanier hits his snare this tune turns into a beast of a song. Race:In is in another way the perfect introduction for what is about to follow: it has all the ingredients of this album in one song.
Next up is Atlas, the lead single, here in a slightly longer version and definitely the best choice for a single. The bass groove is relentless and irresistible, the deformed vocals sing a cheery childlike melody on top of it, and after the first part (at about 1 minute 43 seconds, to be exactly) an overwhelming beat storms in to lift the track up to a higher and overpowering level. This is brilliance and by far the best piece of music I have heard this year. In the middle part (not on the single version), it is as if Battles wants to teach us how to write a Battles tune: the song is stripped down to its groove and layer upon layer reconstructed again, to end up in the main guitar theme we've heard before. It's just impressive how a danceable pop tune can sound so unconventional and surprising. Ddiamondd takes the speed to a higher level and is a short but hectic song with hyperactive vocals and a ruthless rhythm. It is now completely obvious that Battles is the sum of four very talented musicians, each of them bringing in their own influences.
I won't start reviewing each and every song off the album, although I'm very much inclined to do so. Tonto is another highlight that refers back to the music on the EP's, and proves to me that Battles hasn't changed that much: the vocals are merely used as an extra instrument, delete them and you'll see that this whole discussion I referred to earlier is useless.
So is this a masterpiece? It is very close to it. There are a few tracks in which Battles looses its concentration and starts messing up a bit. Rainbow, for instance, does not appeal to me at all and is obviously highly influenced by Tyondai Braxton's jazz background, while Bad Trails is more of a soundscape that lingers on just a little too long. But Mirrored proves that Battles is a band not afraid to reinvent itself, to add new ideas, to be as unconventional as ever, and the album manages to bewilder, amaze and confuse the listener all at the same time. I can't wait to see how they will translate this music into a live context.
I saw Drea de Matteo and Shooter leaving after the Elvis Costello set last year, actually my buddy ran into her and almost knocked her down....
Yeah I talked to them and his bass player Ted at the hot dog stand after Tom Petty, I drank beer and smoked with him and his band backstage one time at a concert before there first record came out, those guys are cool.

We do have a "Random Thoughts" thread around here somewhere - in The Other Tent
I'm aware......but that wasn't a random thought, that was me hoping that the celebrity William Hung will be at Bonnaroo, I think it pertains to the topic at hand, don't you think?
I'm not the type to geek out when I see a celebrity. It would be pretty cool to see Dave Chappelle show up though.
He stayed at my hotel last summer and was kind of a security nightmare. He was hanging out outside of the hotel, chatting with fans and giving out tickets. He was riding his skateboard around downtown Buffalo for a good part of the afternoon, too. Definitely exceeded my expectations by being so outgoing and personable.

Whatever you do, WATCH OUT! Every year, people report rather disturbing run-ins with Clint Howard! That man is scary as hell! And after he strolls ShakeDown, he is capable of ANYTHING! A lot of people have seen him hiding in trees in Centeroo but, he could be lurking anywhere! He's small but, he's MEAN!.....And VERY, VERY HORNY! Watch your back (literally)!
If you spot him, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO APPREHEND HIM! RUN! For the love of God, RUN!
He's one sick man!
Trust me, I know!

I'm hoping to see either Dave Attel or Lewis Black in person. I saw that video on bonnaroo.com of Lewis Black wandering around, so maybe I will run into him. I would rather meet him and Dave Attel than any other "celebrities."

He did three shows here during the weekend of Bonnaroo. I would of gone if the timing was more suitable.
