I am definitely going to see them in Birmingham. Sloss Funrance isn't a big place especially compared to the other places they are playing. That is exciting.
Yeah, that's pretty cool! That amphitheatre hasn't been around very long. The only act I've heard of playing there so far was Lynyrd Skynyrd last year. Looks like they might give Mud Island a run for their money on outside venues to see bands.

yea, between this amphitheatre and the civic center, memphis is pretty much sol when it comes to getting any decent shows
Yeah, though we do have the Memphis In May Music Fest in a couple of weekends and Al Green is playing the Botanic Garden on 7/21. But yeah, I see most of my shows at the New Daisy, Young Avenue Deli, or Hi-Tone nowadays. Just nothing I want to see lately at the Orpheum or FedUp Forum. GPAC still has some good shows occasionally too. I saw Al DiMeola there last year and it was awesome. I wish Mud Island would get on the ball with shows; still the best place outdoors to see music in Memphis. Nothing like watching a great band with the Mississippi flowing by in the background. And if they ever get those Overton Park Shell "improvements" done..........
