Some of you may have seen recent media speculation of new Police "demos" and reports of a "new album". We would like to take this opportunity to confirm the accuracy of Roger Friedman's recent story for Fox News in which he reported:
"Meanwhile, rest assured that reports of a new Police album are untrue. Insiders tell me, as this column has reported, there are neither plans for an album of new material nor is there a demo of a new song. The Police are currently rehearsing for their tour in Tuscany, Italy, at Sting's tranquil estate. Songs on the tour are and have always been just from the Police. No new songs and no songs from Sting's solo albums will be included."

Anyone up for getting a big group together to go to the show so we can rotate in and out for restroom and food breaks without losing prime viewing spots? Plus it's just a lot more fun with more friends to enjoy it with ;D

if they don't want to tarnish their legacy farther than sting already has they won't do anything new. stooges anyone? what a joke.
i've seen a lot of footage of the police live, and it is all dissapointing. too often sting expands a 5 minute song into 10 minutes, with 5 extra meandering atmospherics with him ad libbing spoken words in some sort of postmodern art plea.

I've watched quite a number of Police clips in YouTube, and I have seen nothing of the sort. Just about every video I watched rocked. The songs were extended, and perhaps the jams started to "meander" at some point (as most jams do), but I have seen nothing to the effect of a "postmodern art plea."

Was it a stellar performance? No Was it awful? Certainly not. Keep in mind that was the first time those guys took the stage together in twenty years. You can't expect them to be hitting every note on their first run. Besides, that was to open the grammy awards, it wasn't really a live performance. It was meant to be a quick 3 minutes, hey look, The Police are back together, remember Roxanne? Oh cool, alright . . . on with the Grammys. What they did at the Grammys was a simple declaration that The Police were back, there was no room for jamming or improvisation, just the straight song, as written.
Any new Police material would be most welcomed, but they start their tour in a month...not much time for new stuff. Maybe they have some tunes from the old days that they never published? Heck, once a year somebody finds a Beatles tune that was never released.

I think that's a great idea.
OK! I may try to start another thread to see if there is any more interest in it.
And I saw the Synchronicity Tour way back in Ican'tevenrememberwhatyearitwas. And I may have been omg Valley Girl young, but I would have remembered if it had been a su*ka** show. It wasn't. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen. No meandering 10 minute extended versions of anything (I would remember, I have the attention span of a flea NOW, then, a dust mite!). The Police will put on a good show, if they can keep from coming to blows long enough
