Just wondering if there are any Mute Math fans out there. This band is insane live...They have so much energy and the drummer Darren King is amazing. Plus they rock a keytar, do handstands on the keyboard and take apart their drum set.
If you don't know much about this band check out these videos or just look up the song Reset on youtube...thats when they go completly nuts.
Here's a taste of reset:
this is their official video for typical...and they really are that energetic...maybe even 10xs more in concert
definitely got into them in a big way over the last 2-3 months. after the initial lineup had been released for a while, i'm walking through the kitchen on the way to walk the dog and spot a cd laying on the table, so i take a look...mute math. i assume its my brother's but since i remember them being on the lineup, decide to bring it on the car to throw on for a few minutes to see if they were any good... been hooked since
i read a review on jambase about one of their shows that made it sound as though the band is amazing live, but the singer doesn't measure up to his studio work. either way, i have a feeling they'll be one of those acts who is scheduled at like 12 or 1 thus forcing me to leave the campsite and head into centeroo before i normally plan to
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

I loved Mute Math's set last year, and was convinced they'd be back this year in a main tent. I've been patting myself on the back ever since. See you there!
i checked em out only because i saw they had a cool name and were on the lineup and was very very happy with them after downloading a few tunes, and put them straight toward the top of my "to see" list for sure, they have a really unique sound and cant wait to see them!!!!!
i have been a mute math fan for a couple years. seen them 3 times. they are awesome live. tons of fun. they are playing thur. night at bonnaroo. it will be a good way to start it off.
Here's some insider info for ya... When I asked Paul Meany about his plans for Mute Math's stage show (at the Bonnaroo press conference)... He said they have a "few things up their sleeve," and he wanted "to leave it at that."
"Furthermore, Paul Meany of the New Orleans-based outfit Mute Math is equally thrilled for the festival, claiming the invitation was "extremely flattering" and caused him "jump around on the bed and get in touch" with his "inner teenage girl." But the excitement comes with a grain of salt. "I'm an avid Police fan and I'm going to miss them at Bonnaroo," he lamented. "It's incredibly torturous." Nonetheless, fans can expect a heated performance from Mute Math: "We're not holding anything back, we're bringing all the toys...we're going to buckle up on the Bonnaroo train and see what happens."

ya...studio stuff...not so great. ive seen some stuff on youtube and his vocals arent as good as on the album though. i have seen some really good concert footage though so if there arent conflicts with clutch, tea leaf green, or rodrigo y gabriela ill be there.
MM was one of the best shows I caught at last year's Roo. My brother knew about them but the rest of us just kind of stumbled into the tent and got rocked. I won't miss them this year!
I interviewed Ben Harper, Colin Meloy (The Decemberists), and Paul Meany (Mute Math) at an official Bonnaroo press conference last week. I finished up my Ben Harper feature (it's in this forum somewhere), and I'm going to be writing features for the other 2 bands soon. I'm also in pre-production for my "Pre-Bonnaroo Podcast" which will be done by next week I'm hoping.
I've also been doing a TON of Roo-search so I'm well informed when getting to the festival. This site's actually been a huge help in my research. (Thanks guys and gals) Tonight, I also just found out that I'll be getting an exclusive interview with one of my favorite artists ever... Ziggy Marley. I've gotta start getting some good questions together for him.
Needless to say, there's a lot on my plate... But I wouldn't trade my press pass in for anything!
