Usually special Mule shows mean announced guests. So far, I have seen no word on what they are planning on doing, and with who. Anyone out there have any info yet?

I'm not wondering about the guests, im sure they will be plentiful and sweet, im just curious if they're gonna have a themed set, like their new years shows.

Just NO REGGAE!!! Not a big fan of the Reggae stuff. And it sucks ass The lips are playing the same time, but I'm not missing this Mule show. I'm hoping for a Ben Harper sit in. I may go see the first 10, 15 minutes of Flaming Lips then go check out Mule.
Just basing it on who is also playing over the weekend...

Plus, I would always through Artimis Pyle and Leslie West as likely Mule sit-ins, no matter where they are playing. Same goes for Gregg Allman and Derek Trucks
Derek is always a great sit in, but he'll be on the west coast during bonnaroo. Everyone should also expect Jimmy Herring and James Blood Ulmer to be onstage at some point.
PS: I'm praying for an Ornette Coleman/Mule Sco' Mule.

I would rather have a guest artist other than Derek though. He is an aaaaaaammmazzzzingggg guitarist , but I want to see music and a show. I have seen him several times before, and Im not a fan of his show. He puts soooooo much emotion into the music, but just stands on stage as if its no fun. I just wish his emotions matched his music........ Did I just catch a sub-par show? Anybody with me on this?
Derek Trucks doesn't have sub par shows. He always just stands there, but that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy what he's doing. I don't understand why people call him out for not jumping around and making silly faces or whatever. He plays the most soulful guitar (and I think, the best) of all the guitarists of his generation.

Lips are at midnight saturday, Mule is latenight, its possible they dont play against each other, but The Flips might overlap the begining of Mule.
No doubt Derek is amazing, and he definatly plays with emotion, he is just one of the few atrists that I would almost rather listen to rather than see live. For me, when I pay to see music, I want to hear the music, and see the music.
I just think its pretty awesome to see a guitarist showing emotion using more than his/her hands. At least seem like you want to be there and it does so much more for listeners. Have you ever had an artist stare right into your eyes during a show? It just feels so amazing and to me it changes the rest of the show.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
If Gov't Mule & Lips have the same time slot I will be really bummed. I just got into the Lips recently and have never seen them live. But I can't miss Mule either. Here's hoping that somebody is wrong about this. And you thought World War II was a conflict...sheez!
well after the mountain jam announcement and phil making a date with us all to be back im thinking phil will sit in the whole show. mountain jam will be a nice warm up session for them. it sucks the lips are playing the same time. that will probably divide my group. but i wont be missing 1 minute of mule.

Dark Side of the Mule. A set thats just Dark Side of the Moon, thatd be sweet. Or maybe Mule IV. I think it'd be cool for the theme to be some classic album, and they just play it through for a set, ala' Phish halloween 96'.

I could see something like that happening. I wouldn't expect Phil to play the whole set, but I wouldn't be shocked if he sat in.
